Jump headfirst into alpine and backcountry adventures.

The Mammut Men's Base Jump Touring Pant is choice whether you're ice climbing, backcountry skiing, or doing a little of both. This durable softshell is comprised of a double-weave, stretchy Schoeller Ecorepel fabric for reliable water-resistance and freedom of movement. Mammut treated the fabric with Coldblack to reflect sunlight, add a plethora of sun protection, and keep the black fabric surprisingly cool under sunny skies.

The Base Jump Touring Pant also features Kevlar reinforcements at each cuff for sturdy protection against ski edges and crampons. Gaiters inside each cuff prevent powder from seeping into your ski boots. Zippers at each side allow an ample amount of ventilated airflow when you warm up. The suspenders secure the waist, which is high enough to provide additional coverage when you're bending over to adjust ski boot buckles or get gear ready for a climb.

  • Durable softshell pant for ski touring and classic alpinism

  • Coldblack treatment reflects 80% sunlight
  • Side ventilation with mesh inserts let air in and keep snow out

Nice features but he fit is 1 size small

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 38 (second time)
  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 190lbs

These pants have nice features and are of sturdy construction. I am 5'-11" and weigh 190 lbs. I normally wear 36 (waist) 32 (inseam) pants. The Base Jump size 36 fit about like a size 34 pair of pants (and were returned). The size 38 fit me perfectly.

Very happy

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34 Reg
  • Height: 6'3"
  • Weight: 180lbs

Was looking for a new pair of touring specific pants. Biggest plus for me was the fit. I have only had these out one time so I cannot talk to durability. However what I do like is the belt and suspender option. Very good trim fit. Material is lite and pants have good ventilation.

Not durable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 32
  • Height: 5'11"
  • Weight: 165lbs

Was looking for a backcountry pant that breathes well. Asked the backcountry rep for advice. He recommended these pants to me. My concern with these pants was durability, since a previous mammut pant had not held up at all to light use. The rep reassured me that these pants were durable.

The good: when new, these pants fit and move great. I’m a furnace and these things breathe well while still doing a reasonable job of keeping water put.

The bad: after a 5 day backcountry trip, these pants were pilling on the front and had lost some of their shape. After a few more uses, I’m over them, as they continue to lose their shape and pill up. They soak up more water too. I’ve tried to baby them as well.

I’ll stay away from mammut gear from now on. Having owned some of their packs, a jacket and two pairs of pants, it all looks great new, but doesn’t hold up to backcountry use.

light and sweet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34
  • Height: 5'10"
  • Weight: 180lbs

these are a light no frills touring pant. the vents keep the heat out on the climb and the fitted construction keeps them comfortable. if your looking for a touring pant. these are rad

Exactly what I was looking for

I was looking for a softshell pant with suspenders to use touring/hiking and on warmer days and these fit the bill perfectly. They're a trim fit, I'm 5'9, 150 pounds and the 32 fits perfectly. They are very stretchy and flexible while being very breathable too. The suspenders are also very good I haven't had any problems with them falling down. The inside cuff is also a very tough Kevlar material to keep from getting cut by ski edges. Cuff is also more than big enough to accommodate ski boots easily.

    Very Trim Fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 34
    • Height: 6'

These pants look like they would be great, but the thighs are cut extremely narrow. If you have anything but very thin legs they will probably fit too tightly.
