Climb for eternity with the Eternity.

A low impact force rating and high fall rating on the Mammut Eternity Classic Climbing Rope mean you can send sport crags with it for a long time. Its skinny diameter helps keep it light and supple so you can challenge yourself on the hardest routes without this rope holding you back. The Eternity is particularly suitable for intermediate climbers looking for an advantage on steeper crags. Get the 60-meter length if you're only looking to climb on crags, or get the 70-meter version for the occasional multipitch.

    No complaints.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This has been my first rope and I have loved it. My best friend had the same rope and we would always climb on it and i liked it so much that I decided to get one too! The color is great and looks clean for a long time. The rope delivers a soft catch when you fall, which is obviously a great feature and it is recommended for more falls than most ropes in this price range. Not to mention my puppy is a huge fan!

    No complaints.

    Red, white, and blue.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I've already taken a few falls on this rope. It has just the right amount of stretch, soft catches without sending you too far away from your last piece. I also like how patriotic the color scheme makes everyone when they see it clean in all its red white and blue glory!

    Solid Rope

This rope is great right out of the bag. Some new ropes I've had really kink and are annoying at first, but this one is just smooth. It runs through my grigri or atc guide very smoothly both while belaying and rappelling. I've taken quite a few falls on it and it allows for a nice soft catch. I'd recommend this for sure!

      Great first rope.

This was my first rope. I've had it for 3 months and have used it about twice a week. It's light, supple, flakes easily, and I haven't had any issues with knotting. I've used it successfully on single and multi-pitch routes. It's a great all around rope based on my experience. I've taken one 10 foot drop on this bad boy, along with some sustained hang-dogging as well. After inspection, it still appears no worse for wear.

I'm glad I bought it and don't know why I spent so much time worrying about what kind of rope I should or should not get for my first one (damn you consumer anxiety).

      Great first impression

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have enjoyed using this rope. It is easy to grab and clip with, very smooth. It also gives a good catch. The price was nice and the color is pretty.

      a keeper!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this rope as a gift for a friend who is just getting into climbing, she mainly climbs in the gym but is getting into climbing more outside so I wanted to get her something that is durable, economical and a somewhat skinny diameter. So far she has been super pleased, saying it's diameter feeds well through an ATC but feels stiff enough to clip easily with. The middle marker is a nice touch and it has a high fall rating which is ideal for the gym rats out there:)

      Excellent rope and value.

Got this rope for a family member, and it has been nice. It feels nice and we haven't had any issues. And at this price, it is a great value.

      Great First Rope!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used this rope inside and outside of the gym quite a lot! It is smooth through the ATC or grigri, or whatever you are using. I wish I would have taken care of it better because it is already starting to fray a little bit on one of the ends. I didn't have a rope bag for a long time so I had it on the dirt or on the pad at the gym. Now I have a rope bag and it is getting its use.
I really like the width of this rope, it is not either to thin or to thick. I really like the color also but if it is an outside rope it may get dirty quickly, but that means it looks like it is getting use out of it! One thing I wish I would have gotten is a 70m rope for outside and a shorter one for inside, but I am perfectly fine with how this is now!

      first rope--great buy!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This was my first rope as I wanted to lead more often than when "my other friends had their rope with them". I did a bunch of chatting with fellow gearheads and finally decided on this rope and couldn't be happier. Mammut puts out a great product (rope, helmets, apparel) for great prices. I really love how supple it is and very comfy with a good catch. I opted for the 9.8/70 because I knew being my first rope I would like to use it for a longer time and be rougher with it as I perfect my skills. So far, it has only been on gym routes with me but I am really stoked on this purchase---killer item for your first rope!!

      Simple and Easy

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This rope replaces the Tusk in Mammut's rope lineup and is significantly easier to handle than the Tusk was. The 9.8 diameter makes it slightly beefier and more durable than it's smaller cousin, the Infinity, but with many of the same properties. With multiple lengths and a middle marker this bad boy is a staple for red point projects and tall climbs!

If you’re looking into ropes and are looking for a recommendation, give me a call or shoot me an email and I’d be happy to help you out with some recommendations. I have climbed on a lot of ropes on the site and have used almost every Mammut rope on the market!

Great rope for a great price

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This rope is ready to go out of the shipping box. Great quality of rope. Feels great in the hand, and it feeds beautiful when leading. I went for the 70m for those longer climbs.

      Dope Rope

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I was prepared to brace myself for the extra weight when I switched to a 70m rope, but the Eternity doesn't feel too different than the Infinity 60 that I'm ued to. It's definitely supple and feels great in your hands. While I took the extra time to flake it out plenty the night before, it kinked very little on it's first day at the crag. I like that the 9.8 feels sturdy but isn't so burly that it feels like a gym TR.

      Decent Economical Rope

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I recently purchased a 70 meter one of these. I bought this rope for all around use. First route that I used it on was a 7 pitch 5.11 on Devils castle in little cottonwood and it performed great...not too heavy for long pitches, fed out nice with minimal kinking when laid out on the ropebag. Also the cut on my rope seems to be a long one which has helped lowering off some big routes in Maple canyon and elsewhere. The only thing that I noticed is that this rope gets dirty pretty fast so gloves are probably in order. That said this is a great rope and one of the best deals for a 70 meter cord out there.

      Nice cord!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I climbed on this rope for the first time at the gym tonight. It handled very well and had almost no kinking at all. I got the emerald 60m version. One thing that struck me is that the rope is burly but super supple right out of the box. I guess time will tell with durability, but so far it is a great rope for the price! I think I like it more so far than my old 10.2 BW eliminator.

      My First Rope

This is my first rope and I think It may be the only rope I ever need. I have been using the rope for about 3 months now and it has been used for everything a new rope should. (top roping/sport climbing) I am impressed how durable the rope is and how new it still looks and feels compared to my friends ropes that they have got at about the same time. This is definitely a great first rope but it is also for more experienced climbers as well. Cannot go wrong with this rope at all.

        Good feel, good rope

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this as my first climbing rope after doing a lot of research. I've used it around a dozen times and I'm really happy with it. Feeds through an atc well but isn't floppy when clipping into a draw. Very soft catch, I've taken a 20ft whipper and not felt a thing. Great rope.

Does this rope have a middle mark? And if so is it sewn in?

I bought this rope not expecting it to be dry treated but the packaging for the rope says it has superDry. Does that mean the rope has some dry treatment? If so, is it sheath and core? If not, what does it mean?

        Best Answer

        Direct from Mammut:

superDRY treatment provides both core and sheath with lasting, maximum protection against water and dirt, thereby increasing the durability of the rope under harsh conditions, as well as improving handling characteristics over the life of the rope.
