    It really is stink-free!

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I have always been skeptical of Icebreaker's claim that many of their products are odor-resistant, so when Backcountry contacted me about testing this new base layer, I jumped at the opportunity.

First of all, the fit. I am 5'7", 130 and I requested a medium and it fit perfectly. The collar does come up a little higher than most half-zip jackets, but I think it will be perfect for keeping my neck warm while skiing.

I wore the Icebreaker BodyFit Vertex 1/2 zip for three days in a row to test out the odor resistant factor. Day 1 - I started off in the gym to see how the wicking material works. I was sweating up a storm, but I kept cool because the fabric immediately wicked the sweat off of me. After leaving the gym, I took the pups for a 5 mile hike. Again, the Icebreaker kept the sweat off of my skin. Day 2 - the pups and I went for a 10 mile hike. The day started out pretty chilly and I was a little nervous only wearing the Vertex 1/2 zip, but it actually worked out perfectly. There was a 30 degree difference in temperature from Day 1 to Day 2, and I was perfectly content on both days. Day 3 - back to the gym for a light workout, and then a 3 mile trail run with the pups. I did start overheating a little on the run, but that's to be expected when I normally run in a tank. After all three days, and I still didn't stink. Yes, the jacket smelled like outside, but it wasn't a sweaty, stinky mess like most of my base layers are after day 1.

All in all, I love the Icebreaker Vertex and will be adding it to my regular layering system. The only drawback I have with it is that is has to be washed on cold and hung to dry. I know a lot of base layers have this, but I usually avoid buying them because I like to just throw everything in the wash and then the dryer.

    Found my new favorite baselayer!

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.

I absolutely love this new Icebreaker body fit 250 1/2 Zip Mountain Dash baselayer ! I decided to take it out to an overnight hike to Lake Ann. It was nice out for the hike in and warm. I often am a sweaty hiker but this mountain dash top was great at wicking away moisture and keeping me comfortable. As I hiked into the darkness it quickly got cold and I was able to add a layer and stay warm; with just the one additional layer! The Icebreaker top is super soft and was great to sleep in. I was able to wear them on the hike out the next day and I surprisingly didn’t smell even-without Deo. The fit is nice for me which isn’t always easy. I like these because they don’t get stretched/worn out if you wear for a few consecutive days. Overall I would highly recommend. Washed them a couple times and no pilling or major changes to the appearance/feeling of the layer either which was great.

    Light, Comfortable, and Warm Baselayer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion of the Women's BodyFit 250 Vertex 1/2-Zip Mountain Dash Top. I am 5'6 and 120 pounds and found a small to fit nicely. The length of the shirt hit right below my hips and the the arm length went an inch or two past my wrists.

I decided to put this shirt to the test and see if the description of a breathable, odor resistant base layer stood true.. I first went on a trail run in 35 degree weather and this shirt kept me warm and dry for the duration of this time and no other layers were needed. It dried quickly and I was even able to sleep in it comfortably for the night. The next day we went skiing and I found a light jacket on top of this shirt to be a comfortable pairing. When I returned home, I was certain that it would have captured some body odor; however, it smelled totally fine and I could have gotten away with more consecutive days wearing it. This has now become my go-to shirt for most activities and it continues to provide me with warmth and breathability.

The versatility of this shirt is also a major plus. It is very soft with a nice pattern to it and can easily be worn with jeans and a night out in a town without looking like you just came off the mountain. The only downfall about this shirt is that it does not have thumbholes.

If you are looking for an all-around solid base layer, look no further - this will be a great addition to your outdoor attire.

Focus on the mountains not the cold

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion of women's BodyFit 250 Vertex 1/2-Zip Mountain Dash Top. The top was true to size and after reviewing the sizing chart I decided to get a size bigger. I am 5.6, weigh approx. 160 pounds, and have a long torso. The top was true to size with enough room to move around comfortably and the arms weren’t too short, which is an ongoing issue I have with tops. Merino wool can be itchy and this was before washing it several times. I like to machine wash and dry my base layers after each use and I was worried it would shrink. After washing and drying it, it shrunk slightly, but still fits great. I was impressed the material did not pill like some other merino wool clothing I have. The base layer is heavier weight then most items I own, but it was perfect for low key hikes around Banff and Jasper national parks in temperatures hovering around freezing. When the sun was out, I was too hot with a jacket on. This top will be perfect under a light weight jacket while downhill skiing in cold temperatures this winter. I loved the neutral light grey and black speckled pattern and wear it casually with jeans on cool mornings, which I don’t normally do with my base layers. The material was thick enough to wear any colored undergarments without showing through. The Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex 1/2-Zip Mountain Dash Top is slightly more expensive than some of the other merino tops I own, but it fits well and I feel it will last for at least several seasons. If you are looking for a good quality mid/heavy weight long sleeve, I would strongly recommend the women's Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex 1/2-Zip Mountain Dash Top.

I was given this product by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.

My first impression of this top was noticing how soft and comfortable it was. It has great stretch for ease of movement and taking it on and off. The fit was true to size, just with a little extra slack in the arms as I'm a short-limbed person.

My first night out I went camping in 20 degree weather. Wearing the Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex 1/2-Zip Mountain Dash Top along with the matching bottom, I stayed toasty all night. I woke up with a cold face as I often do, but my core was comfortable.

Next, I wore the Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex 1/2-Zip Mountain Dash Top out hiking. It was a cold morning, but I was sweating as we hiked uphill. The top kept me warm early on and then after I took off my jacket, the top breathed nicely as I sweated.

It's a great, comfy baselayer, and makes excellent camping pjs.

I was given this product from Backcounty, but this review is my personal opinion. I started wearing Icebreaker as my base layer and chilly day long sleeve attire a few months ago and will continue to stick with Icebreaker. I am 5'6" and 180 lbs. I have a larger build. I am a climber, hiker and snowboarder. I wear a size Large/XL with most of my outdoor attire. Being this size can make fitting in outdoor clothing difficult. Outdoor clothes are made for my body type. With this top, I have a size large and the stretch of the material, the way this top was made, flows well over the hip and belly region. It fits very well for my figure and size. I recommend this top for it's durability, great fit and it keeps you warm and dry in the outdoors. I look forward to wearing this top and matching BodyFit bottoms for snowboard season!
