I am not tiny and these fit great!

  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 5'6"
  • Weight: 185lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I wrote about these pants in a review when I got them earlier in the season. They were too warm to wear then, but have been wearing them through many cold Skimo race nights, evening backcountry skinning and during my resort morning runs. I LOVE these pants and will order another pair for next season with an additional pair. I am a size 10/12 with a voluptuous butt, mountain biking and hiking thighs. I am 5'6". I have a large pair of these pants and they fit great over my hips and all. They are comfortable, keep you well warm and don't catch a smell after a few days of activity in them. These pants are sturdy as well! Thank you for making a great base layer.

Versatile and ready for mountains

I was given this product by Backcountry but this is my personal review.

Being familiar with Icebreaker products I was excited to give the Icebreaker Bodyfit 260 a try. Please note these are the Merino 260 Vertex Drift leggings not 250 as described on Backcountry. I would not describe them as heavyweight material as they feel light and stretchy when worn. I am not much of a 100% wool fan as my skin is sensitive and typically is too itchy. I was surprised of the softness and wearabilty of the fabric. I have not had opportunity to wear in the snow yet but can tell this is an ideal baselayer for skiing. I live in Southern California and have worn it for cool (55 degrees) hikes/runs at beach trails. It is surprisingly not too warm due to its breathability.

The construction is typical of all Icebreaker clothing, durable and well made. The fit is true to size and flattering. Fitted but not too tight. I am 5’8” and weigh 160 and size medium is perfect. The fabric print as a bonus is really nice and slimming. The pants in size medium are a perfect fit although if you are much shorter than 5’6” they could be little long. They are soft and cozy, however, there is no compression. I would not wear the pants out in public as tights but is cute for lounging around the house.

I would def recommend the Icebreaker Bodyfit 260 for someone looking for a warm baselayer that maintains its form and appearance even after vigorous use. It is a product that is versatile in its functional temperature range.

Softer than expected

This was my first time wearing wool long underwear and I was hesitant that it'd be too itchy. They weren't at all and I'm pleasantly surprised by how soft and comfortable these are. I took them out for a few days of early season skiing under hard shell pants and they kept me nice and warm. I got them in a size M and the fit is a little on the looser side in the legs, especially compared to tights that I'm used to wearing, but overall I'm happy with how they fit. They're also really cute and a nice change of pace from solid black long underwear.

Super soft, nice weight

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. The BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Leggings are super soft and comfortable, stretchy and one of my favourite baselayers. The wool is awesome, no itch, and washes well.
The pattern (I have the light grey) is cute and it's a super nice kit with the matching top.

The BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Legging fits true to size. The medium fit me well - I would have given 5 stars but I disliked the elastic band and prefer a yoga-style fit.

I ended up wearing the pants and top all day (around the house, walked dog, yardwork) because they were so soft and comfortable. They are fairly opaque.

I wore them under my hardshell pants for my first ski day and they were very comfortable - stretchy enough to pull up above my skiboot without being uncomfortable around the calf. The weight was nice for -10ish conditions and they maintained their shape after a day.

They wash well (I put in machine on cold and hang to dry) and have maintained their colour and shape.

The BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Legging is a recommend.

Favorite baselayer for skiing!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I am so happy with the BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Legging. These leggings are slim, smooth, stretchy, and warm. They are my favorite baselayer by far. Like other products from Icebreaker, the Merino wool is soft, not itchy, and does not hold odors.

The BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Legging fits true to size. I am 5 feet 8 inches and 130 lbs. and the medium fit me perfectly.

When I first got the leggings, I wore them around the house and walking my dog in the neighborhood under a long sweater. They are intended to be a baselayer, but I did not want to take them off because they are really soft and cozy.

I finally wore them skiing today and they did not disappoint. One of my favorite features that I did not anticipate is how stretchy they are in general but especially around the calf, making them the absolute best baselayer for skiing I have owned. The waistband is also soft, wide, and stretchy, so it is super comfortable.

I have now washed the leggings a couple times (on cold or cool, line dry), and they did not shrink at all and they have really held up well. The only issue I noticed is they have already started to pill a little, especially around the thighs where seams from my ski pants may rub. This should not affect their functionality though.

You cannot beat this merino wool for just the right amount of breathable warmth.

Favorite baselayer for skiing!

Great three season leggings!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small
  • Height: 5'6"
  • Weight: 147lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry but this review is my personal opinion. As a commuter who rides all year round in Chicago, I am thrilled to have the Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift legging as part of my gear cache. For sizing reference, I'm 5'6", 147 lbs (and 3 1/2 months pregnant) with athletic legs and the small fits perfectly. Not too tight but slim enough to wear under pants without adding too much bulk, and the waistband stays nicely in place. I own quite a few pairs of leggings constructed of a variety of materials but I know the heavyweight merino Drift leggings will be my go to base layer on those frigid, windy days when I know I require extra protection.

So far I have used Icebreaker's Bodyfit 250 Vertex Drift leggings in a variety of temperatures and situations. I wore them under a light fleece costume on Halloween night while accompanying my daughter trick or treating and was nice and cozy. I have worn them on their own in temps from the mid 40s to 50s while running or cycling and have felt comfortable without overheating. I've worn the Drift leggings as a base layer while cycling in windy and rainy weather with temps from the 30s down to 0 and again enjoyed being warm without overheating. I know that these leggings will also hold up nicely in spring as welll. One of the best features of these leggings is that I can continue to wear them after my commute to work and still not feel uncomfortably warm- the 100% merino wool does a great job at regulating my body temperature.

The Drift leggings have done a good job at remaining odorless despite many days of constant wearing. When it comes time to wash, I throw it in on cold and then line dry. There's been no pilling and the color and size remains the same. I believe these well made leggings will be a welcome addition to my gear collection for several seasons to come. Thanks Icebreaker for another wonderful product and to Backcountry for offering it!

Warm and Cozy Base Layer

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium
  • Height: 5'7"
  • Weight: 135lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. Icebreaker’s BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Leggings are form fitting without feeling restrictive. I have long legs and these easily reach my ankles. I was a bit apprehensive about the waist band but it is comfortable and lays flat without pinching.

I have been wearing the BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top and Leggings over the last few weeks in a variety of conditions (11-40) degrees and the merino wool breathes nicely and keeps me warm without overheating. I wore the top and matching bottom with a soft shell jacket and trail leggings during an early morning hike in 11 degree weather and was comfortable without feeling bulky. This is my new go to base layer for skiing and cold weather hiking but the leggings are equally nice for pjs or lounging around the house.

One last note: I wore the BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top and Leggings over and over and they didn’t absorb odor the way other performance fabrics do. When I washed them, they line dried in just a few hours, a handy feature for traveling or camping.

Warm and Cozy Base Layer

It's Cold Outside!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large
  • Height: 5'6"
  • Weight: 160lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion of women's Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Legging. The leggings were true to size and after reviewing the sizing chart I decided to get one size bigger. I am 5.6 and weigh approx. 160 pounds. When it arrived it was a little big and slightly itchy. I like to machine wash and dry my base layers after each use and worried the leggings would shrink a lot. They did shrink slightly after washing and drying them but now fit better. I am impressed that the material did not pill like some other merino wool leggings I have. The pants are a heavier weight base layer and was perfect for mild hikes around Banff and Jasper national parks in temperatures hovering around freezing. For more strenuous activity they might be too hot in these temperatures but would be great for cold winter days. I loved the neutral light grey and black speckled pattern. The material was thick enough to wear any colored undergarments without showing through. The Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Legging looked more like pants rather than base layers. I have several pairs of merino leggings and these are my favorite mid/heavy weight base layers now. The Icebreaker leggings are slightly more expensive than some of the other brands but they fit well and feel like they will last several seasons. I would strongly recommend the women's Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Legging for any active women who needs a little extra warmth while enjoying the outdoors on a cold day. These will be my go to base layers for downhill skiing this winter and I intend on buying a lighter weight layers from Icebreaker as well.

Bring on the snow!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium
  • Height: 5'5"
  • Weight: 130lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I'm buying all new gear for ski season, and I cannot wait to try the Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Leggings! These are high quality, lightweight, soft, and super warm. They aren't tight, but are slim enough that they will be perfect for layering under my snow pants. I haven't had a chance to wear them outside, because we have no snow... but I have no doubt that they will exceed my expectations. I plan to use them while skiing, sledding, and hiking in our freezing Utah winter snow. Warning-- be careful if you use the size chart, because the one posted has the men's measurements instead of women's. I normally wear a 28inch waist in pants, which I think is a small in these leggings, but the medium fits me perfectly. I also don't like my clothes skin tight. I would highly recommend the Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Leggings to anyone who is always cold (like me), but still wants to have fun outdoors this winter.
