    Soft, nice fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 132lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. The Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top and Bottoms for women

The material of Icebreaker’s BodyFit 250 Vertex Baselayer is a great really nice light grey colour, great print and good fabric opacity. This piece is even nicer in person! I didn't notice the seams esp. in the underarm area.

This will be a good baselayer for resort skiing, cold touring days, snowmobiling. The top will be a good layer under my soft shell for xc skiing. Transitions to apres.

Fabric: very soft, very flattering material, good opacity for a light colour and fitted cut. The print is super cute and different.

Cut: top- ideal fit, nice torso and arm length. Is is true to size and fitted. The zip comes down to a flattering and practical level in the chest, good venting for touring or more active pursuits. There are comfortable seams around the armpits and the cut comfortably allows for full arm range of motion. The collar height is nice and feels cozy, not too tight when zipped all the way up and hits at the right height.

Pants: I disliked the elastic band waist, I prefer a yoga pant style waist.

I’d recommend Icebreaker’s BodyFit 250 Vertex Baselayer top and bottoms.

    Soft, nice fit

    Favorite baselayer for skiing!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'8"
    • Weight: 130lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. The Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top for women is a soft and cozy baselayer for skiing; once you are done for the day it looks good for après too. It is great for layering because it is not bulky - it is slim fitting and also soft and stretchy. It also works as a lighter weight top to wear over a t-shirt on a fall hike.

The Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top fits true to size. I am 5’8’’ 130 lbs. with longer arms and torso. I got a medium, and the length for both my arms and torso is perfect, which is not always the case.

I wore this top to work and on several hikes as an outer-layer, and today, finally, skiing. It is my new favorite baselayer! I love merino wool, especially technical wool like this and like other products from Icebreaker, because it is so soft, not itchy at all, and does not hold odors like some other fabrics. This is an especially high-quality top. It is nice and warm but also moisture wicking if you work up a sweat.

The top seems durable. I have also washed it now several times (on cold or cool temp and line dry), and it still fits great and shows no visible signs of wear.

I got the snow/black color. It looks like the pictures on the website. Some nice extra features are that the seams are well positioned and very smooth so they do not create any irritation after a long day of skiing. There is also no itchy neck tag. I am surprised they did not put one of those little flaps over the top of the zipper, but because the zipper is high quality and flexible, and because the fabric behind the zipper is soft, it is still really comfortable.

My husband has the men’s version and he loves his as well, both for casual wear and as a baselayer for snowboarding. I have the matching leggings and they are excellent too.

    Favorite baselayer for skiing!

    Great layering or stand-alone top

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 140lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry but this review is my personal opinion. I'm a huge wool fan. I have at least a dozen different wool pieces - jackets, shirts, tanks, socks, tights, pants, base layers, bras... you name it, I probably have a wool version. So I've become pretty picky about wool, and honestly, this top has become one of my favorites. It's one of the thickest tops I own now, without being too heavy. It stays breathable - you can still feel a stiff breeze through the fabric - but definitely still keeps you warm. The pattern adds interest, and the neutral gray and black colors go with every color of pant and shorts I have. I'm 5'9 and about 140lbs, and the medium fits great. But I don't love skin-tight base layers, so I would probably size down if you are looking for a really tight fit. The medium is body-skimming without being tight. The sleeves and torso are both perfect length for me and neither ride up. The wool was really soft, even before washing, and has held up perfectly through 3 washes now (I didn't put it in the dryer though - I try to never dry wool with heat).

I wore it for a November day of hiking in Joshua Tree National Park, and it was the perfect weight on its own until the sun went down. The day was sunny, windy and mid-60s, the evening was in the 50s, and by night it was down to the 30s. It was a little warm for the day hike but worked great to keep the sun off my arms without suffocating or having to carry another lighter layer. I did get a bit chilled once the temperature really started to drop, but it would have made a great base or mid layer. I appreciated the zipper to ventilate during the day and zip up when it got colder. The top of the zipper is also wrapped in the wool fabric, so no scratchy zipper parts are rubbing your chin when it's zipped. I also wore it for the rest of my trip as my morning lounge wear and it was super comfortable.

This is really a great all-around top for lots of outdoor activities in the colder seasons. Looking forward to making this my go-to skiing mid-layer as soon as the snow starts falling.

    Great layering or stand-alone top

Great addition to winter cycling gear!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 147lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry but this review is my personal opinion. Icebreaker's BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift top is a soft, non-itchy 100% merino wool top that is another top quality product that I've come to expect from Icebreaker. I own several pieces from the brand, ranging from sports bras and underwear, tank tops and vests. The fit is true to size- for reference I'm 5'6", about 147 lbs (and 3 1/2 months pregnant) and a size small fits great. The sleeves are plenty long enough- they don't ride up when I'm cycling and keep my wrists covered. The neck when zipped up reaches my chin, keeping my throat nice and toasty on windy, chilly rides. The length of the BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift top easily covers my hips and keeps drafts out.

I ride a bike all year round in Chicago and have been using the BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift top in a range of temperatures this fall- on its own in more mild 50s to simply layered under a softshell jacket in temps down to 0. The lightweight breathability of this top has kept me from overheating, and the merino wool has done a great job keeping me warm riding in rainy conditions.

The versatility of this piece is great, and is quickly making the Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift top an indispensable item in my winter cycling wardrobe. The merino wool wicks moisture away while regulating my temperature, as well as does a fabulous job keeping odors at bay. When it does come to needing a wash, I simply wash on cold and line dry. The Drift top dries fairly quickly, and I haven't noticed any pilling or pulling at the seams. All in all, a great choice for any outdoor activity.

Great addition to winter cycling gear!

    Everyday Base Layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 135lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. Icebreaker’s BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top is my new favorite base layer! The top rests just below my hips and the sleeves are long enough to cover my wrists. The material is lightweight but thick enough that I don’t have to worry about my bra showing through.

I have been wearing the BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top over the last few weeks in a variety of conditions (11-40 degrees) and the merino wool breathes nicely and keeps me warm without overheating. I wore the top and matching bottom with a soft shell jacket and trail leggings during an early morning hike in 11-degree weather and was comfortable without feeling bulky. I especially like the ½ zip neck for venting and look forward to wearing this base layer during ski season.

I love the color and pattern and my husband commented that the top looks like something I would wear with jeans rather than a base layer- so I’m wearing it as casual wear too.

One last note- I wore the BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top and Leggings over and over and they didn’t absorb odor the way other performance fabrics do. When I washed them, they line dried in just a few hours – a handy feature for traveling or camping.

    Everyday Base Layer

    Comfortable and warm

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: S
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 130lbs

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.

I've never owned anything as heavyweight for a base layer as the vertex 250, and I have clearly been missing out. It is thick but not heavy (as in its physical weight) by any means. I did have a chance to wear this camping in pretty neutral weather (about 45 degrees) along with it's matching bottoms and I was quite comfortable. I tend to run cold and be shivering at that temp at night, but wasn't at all.

I got a small and don't like things baggy or big in the slightest, I would probably get an extra small next time (5'5 130) but the small still fits really well.

It's actually cute enough to wear out and about too, I think :)

I plan on wearing it for ski season. I used to wear a baselayer + quarter zip + fleece, now I will just use this plus a fleece under my ski coat.

    Comfortable and warm

All I need is some snow!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I'm buying all new gear for ski season, and I cannot wait to use the Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top! The description calls it heavyweight, but it's not thick or bulky at all. This lightweight, soft, warm base layer is going to fit nicely under my snow coat/pants. I haven't had a chance to test it out yet, because we have no snow... but I have no doubt that it will exceed my expectations. I plan to use it while skiing, sledding, and hiking in our freezing Utah winter snow. Also-- the size chart is pretty much right on but I ordered a size up, because I don't like my clothes skin tight. I normally wear a size small (or size 4) top. I would definitely recommend the Icebreaker BodyFit 250 Vertex Drift Top to anyone... I don't think I've ever owned anything quite this nice.

All I need is some snow!

    Warmth + Comfort

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: small
    • Height: 5'3"
    • Weight: 125lbs

This baselayer is warm, cute, and really soft. So many merino wool products are a bit itchy, but this one is not. They really took into consideration that this is an on the skin garment. I will say my neck is sensitive so I don't wear it zipped up all the way but I definitely could if it was really cold and be comfortable. I love the fit as well. It isn't skin tight like some baselayers, but I prefer the slightly looser fit. I'm 5'3 and the length is good on me. While it will definitely fit someone taller, it doesn't bunch up or look baggy on me. I wear it under my down coat as well as on its own and it does great at regulating my body temperature. It's been a go-to for me as the temperature has started to drop. I haven't had to wash it yet, so I'm interested to see how it holds up since it is machine washable.
