    Expectations surpassed.

Castelli knows what we want from our kits, with the desire for a summer-weight feel, compression where needed, stretch where we want it, and overall comfort that doesn’t feel bulky and restrict movement. Their engineers answer our requests with the Castelli Sorpasso 2 Bib Tights, which are there to get us through the cold months and those all-important winter base miles.

Starting at the base of construction, the Sorpasso 2 are carefully stitched together with panels of Castelli's compressive Thermoflex Core2 fabric and Thermoflex fabric for its stretchy and fleecy soft properties. Unchanged from previous years, Thermoflex 2 has a nylon outer layer with a hollow-core polyester inner layer that traps heat within to maintain warmth and insulation, all the while nylon and polyester work together for maximum moisture management, pulling perspiration away from your skin to dry quickly so you can stay comfortable and warmer. With exceptional moisture wicking paired with hollow core construction, the Sorpasso 2 is officially recommended for cool-to-cold rides from 41 to 53 degrees Fahrenheit; however, many of us who run hot in the saddle will wear them into the mid-30s.

The fabric sees few changes to the strategic panels that made up previous years' Sorpasso bibs, since it uses the same fabrics as before, but that isn't to say that nothing is different. The most notable change to the bibs occurred on the back. Increasing support, a lumbar band improves the fit and comfort in the saddle for increased support when you're grinding out long winter miles.

Smooth, seamless straps wrap over your shoulders comfortably, and their wide construction distributes pressure for a nearly unnoticeable fit under your jersey. Because the straps omit seams you'll be pleased to find zero chafing, even on long rides.

Your sit bones would thank you if they could for the luxurious Progetto X2 Air chamois with. With seamless fabric against your sensitive skin and exceptional moisture transfer that allows for airflow, you'll feel fresh and comfortable. Underneath the 4-way stretch fabric, you'll find multi-density padding with variable thickness and perforated comfort inserts to seal the deal with support where it's needed and breathability to boot.

    • A light weight winter bib that offers warmth and insulation
    • Thermoflex Core2 fabric compresses for better circulation
    • Enjoy a fleecy stretch from Thermoflex panels
    • Nylon and polyester allow moisture transfer to keep you dry

    Runs small

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'0"
    • Weight: 163lbs

I wear a large in the free aero race bib shorts, and a large in the San Remo winter suit. Tried the large in the Sorpasso 2, but it was too small. The XL is better - almost like the former large.

    Great Bib Tights!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'10"

Great for rides from 35-55. I got the smalls and found that if you like compression, this was the right size for me. I am 5'10" with a 31" waist and 31.5" pant inseam, skinny legs and these fit great. Most men would probably want to size up one like we traditionally recommend with Castelli as I am super narrow through the hips. The ride was chilly for the first 10-15 minutes at 35 degrees, but that is expected. If I wore more, I'd overheat later in the ride so I just suck it up and deal with it. The water repellancy makes them really great for the days where its warm, but the roads are wet from snow melt. I highly recommend these for anyone looking to ride in the winter or early spring.

    Good Product

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL

They are rated for 41-54°F, but have worn as cold as 16°F. Once you get moving the tights seem to warm up, and keep the wind out. Overall a good product as I've gotten another pair to ride through the winter season.

Size up! Then size up again.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I wore size LG with the prior Sorpasso. XL on the Sorpasso 2 seems smaller than the Sorpasso 1 LG. Shoulder straps are pretty tight.

Very nice - need to size up i

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XL
    • Height: 6'4"
    • Weight: 195lbs

Took them on a 65 mile ride in low to mid 30s and the kept me nice and warm without overheating. Padding is very comfortable, such that I never thought about it once during the ride. If you're used to Pearl Izumi or similar brands, consider sizing up one size.

    Great product, but watch sizing

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XLarge
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 168lbs

When I finally get Castelli products sized correctly, they're great. That's the rub: sizing runs small and is inconsistent.

Bought Large size in last year's Sorpasso bib tights, as I always buy Large in Castelli bib shorts.

Bought Large in this year's Sorpasso 2, but had to return it for an XLarge, which is still smaller than last year's Large.

High-quality the legs are fine the torso is too small in the shoulder she’s very tight with the straps feel like they’re cutting you. The chamois stiching on my private feels like it’s cutting the tip off ouch not fun i keep adjusting during my ride.

    Good bib tights

These bibs fit very snug as expected from Castelli gear. Length of the legs is ok. Same chamois as in the Free Aero bibs - i can ride in it for many hrs and be very comfortable. Warm enough into the high 30’s (no rain).
Outside has a slight redish hue, especially at knees, when you have them on. That’s the inside fleece shining through.
I dinged these tights one star because the shoulder straps are a bit short in my opinion. No problem once they are on, and no issues at all when on the bike. However, even though the front is low, it’s nearly impossible to do #1 because the front fabric is not very elastic and the shoulder straps have hardly any stretch left. Dont have that problem on the Free Aero bibs. Hope the fabric/straps will stretch a bit over time.

    Unanswered Question

Does the Sorpasso tight offer any water resistance? If not, what bib tights do you recommend for damp/wet conditions?
