    Classic for a reason.

The best things in life are simple: relaxing by the campfire, hiking your favorite trail, or floating down a meandering river, and the Chaco Men's Z/1 Classic Wide Sandal is no exception. A hallmark of the Chaco line since 1989, the Z/1 earned its reputation among the hard-to-please river- and desert-rat world and maintains the same simple construction, comfortable fit, and sticky rubber sole that's kept it in production for over 25 years.

The adjustable polyester jacquard webbing upper shapes to your foot with just a few quick pulls, and the cushy PU Luvseat footbed ensures all-day comfort and a supportive feel. Chaco also added a non-marking rubber sole, so you can wear it on a boat, river raft, or your kitchen floor without leaving a trail of skid marks everywhere you go.

    • Injection-molded ladder lock buckle
    • Luvseat PU footbed

    • Non-marking ChacoGrip rubber sole

My chacos have been my shoe of choice on most all of my outdoor adventures. Whether it be hiking to the crag, hiking through the Wasatch, or backpacking 30+ miles through Havasupai, these have been my best friends. Ive owned them for maybe 3 years now and I feel like they will last me another 15 years at least. Insanely durable shoe.
I don't think ill get a different sandal the rest of my life. Ill probably still have the Z tan line on the top of my feet when I'm 100 years old.
Sizing wise, they run big. I usually wear a 10.5, and a 9.5 fits best on me.

    One size down fits better

My husbands normal shoe size is 10 and he has wide flat feet. Size 10 wide in the Classic sandal was too long, they looked like paddles on his feet with too much room in the toe box. We returned and exchanged these for a size 9 regular in the Z Cloud series since they didn't have that version in a size 9 wide width. Nonetheless, the size 9 regular width in the Z Cloud fits my husband well. I googled reviews on the best rated hiking sandals and Chaco was in the top 10. This is his first pair and they will get a lot of miles on a future trip to Costa Rica where we plan to do some hiking. Attractive shoes, and the strap adjustment on these is really neat (the adjustable straps are integrated into the sole of the shoe). Adjust as necessary until you get a comfortable fit around all areas of your foot. Note that the classic series are heavy sandals overall. If having a lightweight shoe is important to you, definitely consider the Chaco cloud Z instead. My husband prefers the lighter Cloud Z sandal to the classic version. The arch on these sandals takes some getting used to but our future trip to Costa Rica will be the true test. It's winter here in WI so these have only been worn indoors thus far to break them in. We have high hopes based on all the rave reviews. Highly recommend sizing down.

    So far, so awesome

The sandals are great! Super supportive and secure but take some getting used to and getting the fit right is paramount.

The Backcountry crew kicked butt and helped me figure out the right sizing, took 3 pairs but it was super easy to get the pairs swapped out until I found the ones that were perfect for my foot.
    Thanks guys!!
