The Smarty Cargo is one of my all time Favorite Pants, I've owned this pant in 4 diff colors over the last 14 years!! They are super durable and have a great fit!! I got my 1st pair when teaching snowboarding for Stmbt & put 200 days them over 2 seasons! I liked those so much I got another pair and used those mostly on my sleds for backcountry. with 20K waterproofing these pants are super waterproof against all conditions yet breathable when you're working hard. The newly added inner kick panels are and added bonus with durability against side edges when touring. The liner is the icing on the cake, I mainly use them for lounging in the morning or after work but when its super cold out on The Hill they're are nice and toasty under the smarty cargo pants.

I have ridden this pant for the past few years and I don't really want to ride much else. I love the fit of the outer shell, I like slightly baggier clothes and these had a great fit without be excessive or getting in the way. The liner it comes with is removable from the pants so usually I wear them in the morning or evening at home, but when its super cold out they fit under the pants no problem and keep things toasty. These now have a beefy inner kick panel so they won't get beat up if touring around and have lasted for multiple seasons with no problems.

Was looking for a less baggy option than my North Face Freedom Pant. These fit great and are super comfy. Especially love the zip out fleece sweats for really cold days. Not sure the material is as tough as my North Face pants but have only used them for one season.

Beautiful pants with the wrong cut.

I hoped that with the liner there would be some extra room in these pants. Rats!! they are just a little too tight even with the liner removed. I am 5'7", 235 with a very long rise. These were designed to ride on the hip and just pulled in all the wrong places. They were beautiful and exactly what I was looking for, too. Bummer that they didn't fit.

Bought the pants and love them. The medium was a bit big for me so I returned it for a small. Love the inside fleece layer (wear it around the house all non stop) and the pants have kept up well for my initial season.

I like this pant because it reminds me of the “traditional snowboard pant.” it is on the baggier fitting side but it doesn’t feel like old school technine style, its like modern loose. Cargo style has pockets for everything you need, good vents, and of course super comfy liners. I only need them on the coldest days, but they are perfect for around the house in the morning making coffee or long drives in traffic home from the resort., (liners have pockets and a belt!)

Plenty of pockets. Very warm with the inner layer. Lots of airflow with the zippers down. I can wear these in any conditions and the water resistance is perfect. I wear the inner pants around the house and to class all the time, they're like a very comfy pair of sweatpants. Love them. 10/10

I firmly believe that 686 does not make a bad product and these pants live up to that belief. I love the 3 in 1 technology and the waterproofing on these bad boys is legit. I rarely need to use the fleece and pants combined except for the coldest of days. The fleece are great to just chill around in and the outer shell is very durable. I'd recommend these to anyone looking to get a high quality pair of pants at a good price.

This pant is the best. So the reason I came to this decision was I wanted a pant that wasn't 98798790 dollars but would still hold well in the severe weather and wind. My buddy had these pants and they looked awesome, from the pockets to the material to the fit everything was spot on! so I snagged a pair in black size large...my jeans waist is 34 so I almost got a medium. if you don't wear anything under go medium, the large I would say is more geared towards 36 waist, I had to tighten the waist straps to get it to fit right. I don't use the liner, cause I get hot easy, and the pant itself is thick and really warm still. I have never gotten wet at all and have taken them in deep conditions. super satisfied. only thing I would change is that the back pockets are zippered instead of velcro.

These Smarty Pants are great. I needed to upgrade my snow pants this year and went with these. They fit great and come with a zip-in sweatpants liner. I have used the snow pants with the liner and without, both ways work great and either way they feel nice and light. Having cargo pants works nicely for carrying riding supplies without inhibiting any motion. I wear size 32in pants and the medium fits great with a little room on either side to adjust. Quality build, decent price!

First thing I noticed about these pants is how warm they are when used with the fleece liner -- confident I can go out in the lowest temps and still be comfortable. Most days its not that cold though, so I usually opt to take out the fleece liner and just use the shell. Still keeps me super warm and dry. The second thing I noticed is the amount of pockets on these pants, tons of storage space for anything you might need to carry with you on the slopes. The removable fleece pants are not only super comfortable, but they also look stylish (as stylish as sweatpants can be). Definitely great to throw on after a long day of boarding when you just want to relax.

I used to teach Snowboarding at Steamboat and one year our uniforms were so bad our Director approved us to buy our own 686 pants. This was the 1st 686 pant I ever owned, I put 200 days on my 1st pair working at the mtn and never had any complaints. Been sold on 686 ever since and own many pairs of Smarty Cargo pants since then!! This year they are new & improved with added waterproofing and breath-ability plus a more durable fabric. These pants have a great pocket system too! I just love the liner, I mainly use it for a house pant or in the car driving to the hill but sometimes if it's uber cold I zip together & wear as a kit under my smarty pants. These also have loops around the waist that snap into the powder Skirt of any 686 Jacket to keep snow out.

The new an improved Smarty Cargo is back. Whether you are putting this shell through the ringer on hill or your running the butter fleece liner to apre the Samrty Cargo will not let you down. New for this season the waterproofing was beefed up to a new Duracore 20k fabric, which is the most durable fabric in the industry. They have also added anti abrasion kick panels and new wrapped side seems for more durability too. The new modern fit is not to loose but also not slim, it has a very true to size fit so if you are looking for something a little baggier size up. Personally I think the fit is better than ever. For that guy not looking to not wear base layers this is the best pant for you because you can literally wake up throw on the liner throw the shell in the car and you are on the way to hill, super easy! The price too is amazing for a 3-in-1 and also 20k waterproofing coming in at a $220 price point. If you want to keep it simple but not lose the tech this is the pant for you plane and simple.
