The 686 GLCR Smith Squad jacket is for those who want next level style and performance paired together. 686's durable and tech-feature-laden jacket sees a redesign for a custom SMITH colorway, and is paired with a pair of limited edition SMITH Squad goggles with ChromaPop lens, so you'll be matching top to bottom while shredding. The jacket is made from infiDRY 20k fabric, knocking water out of your world, keeping you dry from outside elements, and features 15k breathability, too, to pull that sweat away from your skin so you stay dry on the inside as well.

Dumping tech into this jacket, it features everything from thumb holes and an adjustable hood with lycra to seal icy winds out, to Vader vents for heat dumping, and pockets for goggles, your phone, your pass, and whatever else you might want to bring along that day. An off centered YKK reverse coil water-resistant zipper allows for easy access to the insides, and the asymmetrical design allows for a softer feeling neckline against your chin.

Pretty sweet.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: small
  • Height: 5'10"
  • Weight: 170lbs

I like my gear to fit a little trim so I ordered a small as i had tried on one other 686 jackets in that size that fit great, and this jacket fits great too but with one exception. The hand gaiters in the cuffs pull really tightly around my thumbs making it pretty weird to move around. It just forces me to use them like any other internal cuff instead of fully under my gloves. Otherwise it's a really great jacket for having no insulation. I't got great waterproofing and good ventilation. I'd go for something warmer on days close to or below freezing, but otherwise it's top notch. My only other really gripe is the goggle that it comes with. I love the Smith I/O range of goggles however the step down Squad goggles that come with the jacket are pretty ordinary. It is cool having a matching set of goggles you can't get any other way but I personally won't use em and so that being the case the jacket is overpriced by about $100. It would be a 5 star review at $200 for the jacket alone or if it had custom I/O goggles instead at the full price. I'd even live with the slight short arm issue, the rest of the jacket is that good.

Wearing this jacket until it falls apart

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Not sure where to start, I freaking love this jacket! Enough insulation to keep you warm from 20 to 40 degrees and you can layer underneath if it gets colder. Hood stretches to fit snug over your helmet, the vader vents let you breathe through the jacket collar without it freezing up like most buffs. The pocket for the goggles is HUGE, I normally don't put my goggles in there but I can take really anything I want on the mountain in that pocket. Couple beers and snacks? Yes. Some tools and the wallet, Yes. Full rotisserie style chicken? Probably, just make sure you have that thing bagged up well because if you yard sale, everybody on the chair lift will keep asking what smells so delicious. On another note, the goggles and lenses are one of a kind and you cant get them anywhere else!

“The Kings of Collab” are back with a jacket that is going to rock your world, The GCLR Smith Squad Jacket. 686 has teamed up with their friends at Smith to not only bring you an amazing infiDry 20K jacket but also a limited edition Smith Squad goggle with ChromaPop. This jacket has an awesome articulated fit and is very waterproof and breathable for that rider looking for a high tech piece that will keep him dry but will also breathe. Smith is also known for their helmet to goggle compatibility so 686 took that into effect and has a helmet compatible one-chinch hood with lycra side panels that is more than big enough to fit that melon saver. The neck gusset at the top is awesome too for when you need to remove neck gators or just open up the top for a little extra airflow. Pockets are very friendly and easy to use. So whether you’re out cruising the resort or off on a backcountry mission the Smith Squad jacket will not only exceed your expectations but it will also offer some style while out there.
