Thanks to the affordable yet dependable 686 Standard Shell Pant, you won't have to choose between sopping wet layers or a plate of chicken tenders. Performed pretty well, good and waterproof. Nice material. They are way, way baggier than show in the photos. I unfortunately can't return because I already wore them, but I'll be shopping around for a pair that's more fitting.

For a pricepoint pant, I couldn't be happier with them. They stayed pretty warm, didn't get soaked, and performed as you would expect from 686. Overall I would highly recommend these

I've only worn these pants a couple times but they are so far great, love the color, and the vents are great once you get warm.

Pants are terrific! Sizing is definitely perfect, but maybe too perfect. Sizing is true, just make sure if you are in-between sizes then go up a size to get some extra room. I was looking for a pair that I wouldn't need a belt. With a size 32" I went with a Small and it fits perfect with a thinner mid-layer tucked in. Then sits just a little lower on the hips for those warmer days and your snowboard boots catch the extra. Great pants with tons of pockets in the right places and ankle gaiters are a life saver!

Can women wear these?

I want to be comfy on the mountain and women pants are sometimes tight. What size would be similar for women in men’s size?

It’s only $100, but it’s actually super good. The Standard pant isn’t extremely warm or have tons of fancy stuff, but it is built super well and has all the necessary features. Adjustable waist, zipper and velcro pockets, ventilation, and durable material at the bottom of the pant leg. Its the kind of pant you buy in a pinch, but can probably wear everyday and be just fine, it doesn’t just fall apart.

This was a very successful purchase from a comparative no-name brand in a family that covets all the top brands. These pants will give 2 years of hard use for my 11 year old boy, from age10 to almost 12. They are totally functional. Once he's out of insulated pants, they will go, but until then they have served him very well, and the price was right for 2 years' use. My boy is a big feller, 135 or so and 55 inches at the start of the first season. So he's a short stout men's M, which worked well - we did not find these too tight.

Snug fitting. Too snug.

Seemed to be decent quality for $100. The sewn-on fabric loops near the waist seemed poised to get caught on something and torn off. (no, not the belt loops, those other loops) The main pant fabric seems solid enough to last for a couple seasons of regular riding, nothing really exceptional though. Problem is the fit. I'm 6'3" 220 lbs, I 'm an active person with some muscle in my legs. Size XL was completely snug around my thighs, impossible to wear a base layer. If you have toothpick legs, these slim pants will look quite fashionable on you. If you need functional pants that wont restrict your movement, look elsewhere.

If you are looking to save some dough and don’t want to be cold and wet the 686 Standard pant is right up your alley. This pant comes in at a ridicules price and has all the features 686 is known for. The pockets are easy to use, there is inner thigh venting and you also have boot gators. The Modern fit is true to size and you can always wear a belt if need. There is no 100$ pant that can compare.

>Rating:

Is this shell pant comparable to the 686 Cargo Smarty 3-in-1 pant? I have the inner liner from the cargo but need a shell that's the same or similar to that one.

>Rating:

Are they slim fit?

They're rated as a modern fit, so somewhere between standard and slim.
