Fifty pieces of carbon fiber fabric, titanium screws, and a burnished aluminum faceplate tell you that the Zipp Speed Weaponry 145 Carbon Stem is totally stiff, absurdly light, and completely nuts. When your carbon fetish has consumed your frame, wheels, bars and cranks, step into the Zipp shop and inspect the gorgeous full-carbon 145 Stem. Its hand-wrapped carbon layup is as strong as it is beautiful, especially when you screw on the steel-reinforced, polished aluminum faceplate with the four titanium fasteners. We get all sweaty just writing about it—just wait until it's decking out your ride.
Bottom Line: If carbon fiber is sexy, the Zipp 145 Carbon Stem is undoubtedly Miss August.

I noticed the faceplate is silver alloy on some and black on
I noticed the faceplate is silver alloy on some and black on others and the logo is different on the stem. Is this just a different years model? Is there any other difference to these 2 stems?

It has a very sexy look for sure, and it's stiff. Not as light as I would have hoped, but the stiffness makes up for it. I'd buy it again.
A lot of that depends on your current frame size, whether or not you fit well on it, etc. I'm 5'10", ride on a 56cm frame with a 100 mm stem. When I lent out my bike to my friend who is almost 6', we just raised the seat slightly (my legs are short and torso is super long) and put on a 120mm stem that he had kicking around.I'd look at what you currently have, and then go from there. If you're unsure, a local bike shop that specializes in bike fitting should be able to give you the best idea.

Great stem
