Blaze through the backwoods with the Vioz.

Gear up and prepare for your next long-distance backpacking trip with the Zamberlan Men's Vioz Top GTX RR Boot. A Gore-Tex membrane keeps this boot waterproof and breathable, but Zamberlan knows that waterproofing is just one aspect of a great boot, which is why it fitted the Vioz with a waxed Tuscan leather upper and a protective rubber rand at the front and sides of the boot. The tall upper provides exceptional ankle support when you're weighed down with a heavy pack, while the Flex-STM system maintains a comfortable amount of flexibility at the ankle for easy hiking. A Duratherm lining provides some extra warmth, and a durable, rockered Vibram sole makes for go-anywhere traction and easy toe-offs with every stride.

    Definitely WINTER boots!!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 45h

These boots feel pretty good at first but they are very very very warm. I live in the south and the salesman here told me to get these over the asolo tps520's for my weekly hikes. After about half a mile my feet felt like they were going to explode. They were so hot every step they were tingling ... and I still had 2 miles to go! A hike that normally takes me 51min to complete took me 1hr1min22sec to complete with these boots on. So 10 min longer because I was fatigued so much by the hot feet!

The instep locks are pretty shallow so you will get foot movement and that coupled with the heat means blisters... So as long as you only want them for the winter time they will be awesome boots...

Best insulated hiker I've owned or tried. And that list includes Lowas, Kenneteks, Scarpas, Schnees to name a few. The fit favors narrow heel and wide forefoot, which I have. They have just a little flexibility in the sole, unlike most of the ones mentioned above. I don't expect them to be water proof. I've never had a Goretex boot that was. In fact the GORTEX is their only draw back - they'd dry quicker without it. I'd recommend treating the "waxed" leather right away. they drank up a bunch of Snow Seal. I know, you're supposed to use their product but I think that's just so it doesn't change the color and who cares about that.
