    Tough enough, and then some.

Made with fine leather backed with a Gore-Tex membrane, the Zamberlan Tofane NW GT RR Boots offer year-round comfort and support for all your backwoods adventures. And because they're handmade in Italy by one of the very first companies to use Vibram soles, you can expect nothing but the very best in terms of quality, durability, and stunning old-school looks.
    • Full-grain leather upper lends durability and style to complement Gore-Tex weatherproofing
    • Flex-STM jointed design allows the boot to move with your foot, offering out-of-the-box comfort without sacrificing ankle support
    • Norwegian welt construction, which means the soles are stitched to the upper instead of glued, ensured maximum durability
    • Nylon lining help manage moisture for comfort and blister control
    • Vibram soles add multi-directional grip, even on wet surfaces
    • Footbeds are ergonomically designed and removable for the comfort you need, when you need it
    • Polypropylene shanks boost arch protection and support
    • Item #ZAM0001

    Nice Boot for winter

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:True to size
    • Size Bought: 44

I bought a pair of these and went buy everyones "go down a half size" they were too small!! I wear a size 10 D and I ordered the 44. Also upon trying them on I noticed that they felt like they would be really hot to wear. They were shipped back immediately. I ordered a pair of the Zamberlan Latemars in 44.5 and the fit is perfect and NO Gore-Tex!!! much cooler boot!! also after reading many reviews i noticed the toe rand comes off after a bit, Not even one on the Latemar and it's a less expensive boot. Beware of the free two day shipping I received mine in 5 days.from now on I will request UPS. Great Boot, just not what I was looking for.

    Best Boot I've Ever Had.

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit:Runs large

I just echo what many have said. These things are the best I've had and I've had many boots. It's true they were comfortable and needed no break-in really, but as they age and soften after a fair number of miles they do break in and simply become *better* in time if that's possible. Even as large and hot as they are I find I am often not chomping at the bit to get them off once we make camp - a big difference compared to any other boot I've had. I also wore the Z Vioz GT boots and they're great as well but not the insane quality of these Tofanes. Just love them!

I'd just like to echo these comments. I rarely write reviews, but these boots are extraordinary. Just the quality of the product of the manufacture is artistry. The stitched soles are the quality of fine Italian designer shoes applied to hiking gear. The comfort of wearing these boots compare with any shoes or boots that I have ever worn. Whether you're hiking on difficult trails or walking in a city, these boots never fail to be comfortable and look good, despite the weather. BTW, I have wide U.S. 11 feet, and a 45 fits perfectly, so I'd assume their a bit large with respect to sizing.

What an incredible boot. ncredible boot

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:Runs large

I have only had this boot for a couple of months but wow - it is clearly the best boot I have owned. I wore it for several multiple-mile short hikes this summer, and am planning on using it all winter. Just for kicks, I walked through some knee deep streams to see how well they would do -- feet stayed completely dry. I was stunned and excited all at once.

I'm a pretty big guy, about 220, and they just feel really substantial walking through rough ground. Love these things. I expect to keep them forever.

A couple things to keep in mind are 1) they are warm, so they feel good to pull off at the end of the day...they don't wear like a good running shoe or anything, so you won't be throwing these things on to run around town; and 2) as others have mentioned, they get scuffed up pretty easily, and the leather won't stay looking clean like when you get them. I actually bought several pair and returned them because they don't look super new even right out of the box. But whatever, they're not for the office. They still look great, even scuffed up.

    Simply the best, period

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size

I've long been a Scarpa guy, but these have won me over. They are rock solid from the sole to the upper and everything in between. The hand made construction makes a difference, and the fit and finish are gorgeous. The support is, in a word - perfect. I have mobility where I need it, rigidity where I need it, protection where I need it. I have never put on a better designed pair of backpacking boots, ever.

The break in period is relatively short, but necessary. This is especially true if you have a high volume forefoot like mine. be prepared to change your socks on the trail, too. GT surrounded by sturdy leather will never breathe as well as synthetics. That being said, good merinos will keep you comfortable and dry.

    Beautiful Boots

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times
    • Fit:True to size

I love these boots, I was hesitant to buy these at first, they are rather expensive but you get what you pay for. Very high quality. Nice and soft interior calf leather on the tongue and and collar area. Very comfortable. No break in required, they just fit great and were very comfortable out of the box. They were worth it. When the soles wear out you don't have to throw them in the trash, they are welted so they can be re-soled.

    Simply the best

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit:True to size

These are likely the most comfortable pair of footwear I have ever owned. Have had them now for 2 seasons in everything from hot dessert conditions to trudging through early winter snow carrying 40 pound pack for 4 hours. The boots ooze quality at the level of $400 Allen Edmunds dress shoes. The soles are super grippy when scrambling over rocks and feel "quiet" - a weird description, but it fits. Super supportive without feeling stiff. The goretex liners work like a charm and have not leaked in the slightest even when submitted to prolonged water / snow. Per a couple of the reviews below they are a bit on the heavy side. Also, that gorgeous, out-of the box leather does scuff a bit. But neither of those 2 minor faults is enough to deter me from giving them a solid five-star review. They are spectacular boots!

These boots feel fabulous on my feet...

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I have difficulty finding footwear of any kind, boots, shoes, sneakers, etc. that fit comfortably. I wear a 14 narrow. These boots were comfortable right out of the box, and have improved over the summer. From hiking in the Adirondacks where I live to doing yard work in them, I just love putting them on and knowing my feet won't start hurting...great boots...

As good as it gets, maybe better

    • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit:True to size

First impressions of this gear are what you'd expect and hope for. The boots are immaculate and easily worn in. The sizing definitely seems to favour feet on the narrower side. The support and balance of the boots is impressive. They feel lighter than they are.

You get what you pay for

These are the nicest boots - nay, the nicest piece of footwear in general - I have ever owned. The craftsmanship is flawless and when I got them I took 30 minutes to just look at them.

I threw my custom-fitted Green Superfeet into them and started breaking them in but aside from some pressure on my ankle bone on my right foot, there really wasn't any need. They've just become more comfortable as time goes on.

I haven't done any expeditions per se as of yet in these but having worn them around the city, on hikes, with a 40+ lb load horribly distributed (I just loaded tons of heavy books in my mystery ranch crewcab and started walking), I can say that they are the versatile, sturdy and above all comfortable boot I've been looking for.

No ankle roll whatsoever, only problem I've experienced is a hot spot on the inside of my right big toe but that is without wearing liners and I could probably tie them a lot tighter.

Haven't submerged them yet, but the goretex liner is completely solid on the inside, circling around underneath the insole. Clearly high quality.

If you have hot, sweaty feet like me, just be sure you wear wicking socks. Average cotton socks will not do as the goretex liner can trap a lot of heat after the first few miles.

I'll upload pictures later to see how beautiful these babies are. I've received compliments from people just on their looks, even from people who haven't a clue about backpacking boots, they just thought they looked awesome.

I got these when BC had the 15% sale so I got lucky there but if I had to buy another pair at full price, I probably would.

      Best boot I've ever owned

The only downside is they're a little heavy. But other than that they are the best shoes I have ever owned. Quality is THE BEST. Comfort is by far the best of any shoe I have ever owned. They needed no break in for me. I love the look of the boot and I even love to clean them. I'm saving up to buy the 1019 Davos boots but in my opinion those are the only boots that could give these a run for the money.

        Save up and by them.

Normally, I'd say hiking boots, especially full grain leather boots like the Tofanes, need to be tried on before purchase. There are simply too many variables between foot and boot to be able to tell you that these will fit, even if you do choose the correct size. They may be too narrow in the toe box or too wide in the heel. There's simply no way to know. If there's any way to get them on your feet before purchase, take advantage of it.

In what widths does this boot come? And sizing? My foot is a narrow size 12 US. What size does this match up with in your chart?
