Worn threadbare

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

Used these shoes for almost 2 years and now have completely worn them out. I have hiked about 200 miles in them plus used them almost daily. The soles are starting to have less traction and I have worn through the lining in the heel cup.

Positives:
Nice style
Beefier than a trail runner
Better traction than an approach shoe
Durable (within reason.)
Nice flex pattern.

Cons:
Stitching the heel cup is poorly thought out - once it starts to go the shoe pulls itself apart and caused blisters. This was after quite a bit of walking in them though. If they want to improve the product they should extend the goretex sock higher in the heel.

Not a good running shoe.
Sole has poor grip on steep rock compared to a real approach shoe.

Got the job done

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I am not to passionate about footwear, but these shoes for great, looked great, and got the job done for a two week trip in Guatemala. If you need a hiking shoe this will do the trick.
