SB6 Carbon X01 Complete Mountain Bike - 2015

By now, you’ve seen the Yeti SB6 Carbon somewhere on the Internet; maybe you’ve read about its Switch Infinity pivots, or its predilection for running up, over, or through anything you can find. The SB6 Carbon is in that small class of long-travel trail bikes that are truly capable of being pedaled all day long, largely due to the Switch Infinity platform.

The first things you’ll notice about the SB6C are the unconventional pivots, and the tiny bit of Kashima-coated, Fox-branded bits at the bottom. Don’t let the color and Fox brand fool you, though, these little stanchions aren’t shocks. Rather, they’re much more closely related to the rail system used in Yeti’s downhill bikes, most recently the 303. They’re there to provide a linear spring rate, which, among other things, minimizes the felt impact of big bumps when you’re deep in the travel. To complement all of that engineering, we’ve outfitted the SB6 with choice components from Fox, SRAM, Shimano, and Easton. The 1x11 X01 group takes care of drivetrain duties, and stopping is handled by Shimano’s excellent XT brakes matched up to 180mm Ice-Tech rotors. You’ll roll on DT Swiss wheels, and a Thomson Covert dropper post supports the WTB saddle. Fox’s FLOAT 36 and and FLOAT X fork and shock take care of the squishy bits, and traction is provided by Maxxis’ 27.5-inch High Roller tires.
