SB5 Carbon X01 Complete Mountain Bike - 2015

The first thing you’ll notice about the SB5 Carbon X01 Complete Mountain Bike is its unconventional pivots, and the tiny bit of Kashima-coated, Fox-branded bits at the bottom. Don’t let the color and Fox brand fool you, though, these little stanchions aren’t shocks. Rather, they’re much more closely related to the rail system used in Yeti’s downhill bikes, most recently the 303. They’re there to provide a linear spring rate, which, among other things, minimizes the felt impact of big bumps when you’re deep in the travel.

Yeti’s long been committed to the idea of the five-inch bike as an all-around trail bike, and the X01 kit you see here reflects that. A 1x11 SRAM X01 drivetrain simplifies your shifting and reduces the likelihood of a dropped chain, while Shimano’s excellent XT brakes provide stopping power and bike-controlling modulation.

DT Swiss 350 hubs laced to DT rims offer a trail-ready wheelset with quick engagement and long service intervals. The Thomson Elite stem and post are what you’d want on any bike you ride, so Yeti put them there to save you the trouble of replacing them. A FOX 34 FLOAT FIT CTD Trail Adjust Kashima fork handles the squishy business up front, while a matching CTD Adjust Kashima shock takes care of the back.
