Why We Like The YES. Hel YES. Snowboard

The Hel YES. Snowboard is a favorite for hard-chargers that want a stiffer, confident deck to handle steep terrain and deep powder. Its directional twin shape increases stability and float, and the board is built with Slamback inserts for an even more set-back stance. The Directional CamRock profile boosts nose rocker for greater buoyancy in powder to keep us surfing happily on top.

Since it retains camber underfoot, CamRock delivers response and locked-in stability when bombing chopped-out runs and carving up groomers alike. Plus, with a tri-blend wood core, biax glass, and rock-hard sintered base, the Hel YES. is an easy choice for everything from backcountry jumps to tight chutes and occasional park laps.

Solid All Mountain Board

I've used it several times

This review is from the perspective of a freerider 5’3” 145 lbs riding size 149 who was looking for a “stiff-ish” versatile All Mountain Board for laid back resort days—all weather/snow conditions—including riding all types of terrain as well as occasional switch riding, 180s, small side hits and jumps, a light amount of park, and light tricks. Rode spring day with variable terrain—groomers, un groomed, western-US hard pack, slush. It handled well overall very solid and dependable performance. While you can go high speed on it—it’s no freeride board, there is a noticeable limit, and turns on hard pack steeper slopes were conservative and measured (it didn’t feel stable enough for me to just let it go) compared to bombing it on a stiff missile-shaped fully directional board. (someone had described the HelYes as their alternative choice for a “race board” on a prior review, but I also own an old Donek and just don’t feel the HelYes rides quite like that.) I couldn’t fully open up my carve at higher speeds and let it rip like on a freeride or full camber board— so take that into account and keep expectations in check when riding this All Mountain hybrid rocker camber rocker design. It’s lightweight, fairly maneuverable, and doesn’t mind slow speed cat tracks. It really really liked riding softer snow in the slush and felt very playful and surfy in this type of snow, so I think it probably would excel in packed powder or light powder days due to having rocker in it. The sintered base reminded me that this type of board needs a good wax pretty frequently— as it already was looking dry at the end of the first day out. All in all— if you keep expectations in check, this is a very good all mountain board—right amount of lightweight, stiffness, and playfulness for strong intermediate through advanced resort riders who like to dabble in different types of terrain and snow conditions (both on and off piste). As a primary freeride boarder—the HelYes did not elevate my riding to a new level by any means, and I will not grab it for Big Mountain stuff, primary off piste adventures, or high speed riding/carving—but it wholly serves its purpose as a well-rounded solid ride, and I’m overall satisfied with this purchase.
