Stay sure-footed when things get icy.

Fear not the slick, icy surfaces of your front walk or urban streets when you strap on the Yaktrax Pro Shoe Crampon. This spikeless rubber device slips over your boot or shoe and provides ice-biting traction thanks to its SkidLock steel coil design. The flexible, natural rubber strapping conforms to your foot without hindering your natural step, and Yaktrax also added a hook-and-loop strap to keep your foot securely locked in. When you get to your destination, the Yaktrax pack up small until it’s time to head back onto the ice.

    Have fun in all conditions!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Getting out in the winter can sometimes be a mental hurdle when its cold/icy/snowy. When you have the yaktrax on though, it relieves some of the stress about slippin' and fallin' on your A$$!
I've used yaktrax now for about 2 seasons and I've come to like the pro model the most for hiking and running on trails in the winter. The straps that go over your toes make sure your yaktrax make it back to the car with you unlike the base model yaktrax with no toe strap.
I've found the pro model to be more durable than the run model and that it provides comparable performance when running on fresh snow or icy trails.
The pro model really shines when the trail has sections of ice, snow, and mud because it does well in all 3 conditions without having to stop and take them off. Because I don't take mine off when the ice or snow stops, I probably wear through mine quicker than normal.
These are definitely sized to fit around running shoes, and if you are going to be wearing these with boots, you probably want to size up if your close to the next size.
I probably put around 20 miles a week on these in the winter and I go through about 2 pairs per season.

    Great option for slippery slopes

I used these for a work trip for about 12 days straight and they were great. They fit over my boots really easily and stay on very well with the grippy rubber. The only thing that I notices is when I was walking on the grated stairs they would catch in the grates and eventually after a few days one of the side rubber attachments broke but as long as you stay away from those kind of stairs you will be a happy camper.

    strong steps

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

i love the yaks for the shoulder seasons, when there still may be a layer of ice in the mountains during a hike, but down in the valley it is dry and warm. They're small and packable in a daypack, so you can take them with you should you need to throw them on for a better grip than your traditional trail shoes.

    As Sure-footed as a....Yak.

Bought these as a gift for my retired parents for some extra traction while walking the dog and shoveling a mile long driveway during Colorado winters. They have been using them 3-4 times a week for a couple of months and absolutely love them. In a fully tree covered neighborhood, the roads get icy, and stay icy. These have provided enough additional grip that they don't have to worry about getting out and about, even on some of the nastier days. The sizing worked out perfectly in their situation.

    Keeps me running

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got my first pair 2 years ago to keep me running in Utah winters. Now I'm giving them as gifts. When the roads and trails are slick, whether you're hiking, walking the dog, or running these are key to keeping vertical.

    Run all year long!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These get the job done. I trail run with them in the winter and I don't have to worry about slowing down for ice. They also fit on my hiking boot as well for those snowy backpacking adventures. I have a size 8 foot and got size small. They fit great on both my running shoes and my hiking boots. I would highly recommend them!

    Way better than the original

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got these to replace my old walking Yak Trax and am very happy I did. They work a lot better than the original pair I had; the velcro band that goes over top of foot makes it so you don't end up back at your car with only one left on my shoes. Good for hiking trails in the winter and wherever you need to walk on ice.

I wear a size 7 womens shoe and got these in a small. They are a tight fit on my winter trail shoes and if you are getting these for bulkier boots, I'd go up a size.

    Great Item

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Pro Shoe Crampon is wonderful. I love to throw them on when on an icy slick trail or even a sidewalk to avoid busting my behind. These work wonderfully. I have tried a number of brands and styles over the years, but I really like that this particular one has a strap that goes over the top of your foot to ensure it stays in place. Overall I woudl highly recommend.

Please keep in mind when sizing you may need to size up if you intend to use winter boots. I wear a 9 women's shoe and winter boot so I selected the small said to fit 6.5 to 10. It was a workout trying to put these on. I ended up needing to exchange for the Medium which is for 10.5 to 12 to work for my Sorel and Vasque winter boots.

    Exactly What I Needed!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My wife and I purchased these a few weeks back for this year's icy terrain in the mountains. It took some time to figure out how to slip them on appropriately and stay, however after our first test trial, they have been working great. We have been able to last longer on hikes because of the excellent grip. Will no longer do winter/spring hikes without these guys!

    Excellent fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These fit great over my boots and strapped on tight. The traction they gave in the snow was excellent!

    Improvements made to Pro

I am the rep for Implus, who makes Yaktrax, and I want to add to the reviews on here from a while ago. In the last few years we have worked to make the Pro stronger by increasing the rubber content in the compound and redesigning the toe and heel. It has resulted in a much stronger product that is great for everyday use on snow and ice. If you are needing traction for mixed surfaces or trail running, you might look at the IceTrekkers Diamond grip, which is much more aggressive and even stronger in the heel.

      hi patty,

i've used yaktrax for many years now ~ my first pair lasted over 6 years with daily winter use hiking w/my siberian. i could see they were thinning a little, so i ordered a new pair last year. i wore them late winter/spring, stored them for summer, and to my shock they snapped on my first wear this early winter (well, one of the pair snapped)! i came online to order a replacement pair, yet for now backcountry is out of my size (S). i will give another pair a try ~ yet i am so surprised that this new pair gave way with such incredibly little use. given where we lived this past winter/spring, i was hiking far less than with my first pair of yaktrax. i'm not sure that i'd have a receipt ~ and i know i had them new/stored inside for some time before using them ~ they were my backup pair, and my other pair just kept on going! i'd love to know if i could send these in for replacement. thanks so much!!!

Your situation sounds very similar to mine. My husband's new yaktrax broke on his first day using them. I called and sent them back and weeks later was informed that they were of Yaktrax Plus, but would replace with Yaktrax Pro. Ok. Now after several phone calls - including one today, the Yaktrax Pro have not arrived. Poor customer service.

Easy on off, worn 2 seasons

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I wear mine for running and dog hiking in Madison, WI, so I'm on a blend of snow, ice, and dirt/mulched trail blended w bursts of cleared pavement. Beast and I cover 3+ miles 7 days a week at a local park, plus neighborhood jogs. I did add a security velcro strap running side to side over the top of my foot (used my bike pant straps) after losing one trax off my narrow boots. Otherwise they'd be a five star. Lasted 2 seasons and are ready for more. Back to get new pair for my daughter. Even if they only lasted one winter, well worth ease and safety!

      No problems yet

I bought these despite all of the reviews about yaktraxs not lasting very long. I've had them now for 2 years and used them probably 30+ times. I have yet to have an issue with them. I wear them hiking in the snow/ice with my dog and they are a lifesaver so that I'm not slipping all over while she runs circles around me. They are very lightweight and easy to put on my boots. I do not regret my purchase.

        They'll save your ass

I busted my ass pretty hard when shoveling my driveway. I bought a pair if these and my tush hasn't gotten snowy since then. I put them right over my size 10 work boots, and they fit well. The funny thing is that they are slick once you walk into your house if you have hard floors, be careful.

          I like these things!

I have been using the Pro for several years. I had them when they first came out, and like some others on here, they didn't last more than a season. Since the first time I used them, they have been changed a lot. The toe and heel have been redesigned and beefed up. I noticed the box for this year says that they are 20% stronger - using a heavier compound. I love these for the simpleness of the design - they really work.

I would like to know if XL size will fit...

I would like to know if XL size will fit size 15 wide Sorel Caribou boot as indicated?http://www.sorel.com/Product.aspx?top=1&cat=120&prod=49
