The Yakima Universal Mighty Mount will fit almost any existing factory installed roof rack. Cars that come with factory installed luggage holders can now be fitted with Yakima accessories. Just hook up the Universal Mighty Mounts to your cross bars and then attach the Yakima accessories that suit your sport choice. You get a set of four mounts to get you out on the road.
Bottom Line: Put it all on the roof and get going.

With a minor adjustment (different bolts) I was able to mount my Yakima crossbars to my factory racks on my Toyota Sienna Van. Now I can easily carry 2 eightteen foot canoes side by side and easily remove the crossbars when not in use. Saved my the cost of ordering four new feet to attach to the factory rack.
They work, but anyone can unscrew them and steal the bike or ski rack they're attaching to the roof racks, thus your bike or skis! There needs to be an attachment that locks to the roof rack.
I just purchased a 2008 Toyota RAV4 and wanted to use the bicycle roof rack that I already owned, and was using, on my 2006 BMW 3 Series. These universal mounts worked fine on the RAV4 for my application without any drilling or other modification of my original equipment (except for easily removing the mounting brackets on the bike rack rails specific to the BMW). This saved me considerable expense by not having to purchase another bicycle roof rack specific to the Toyota. And I have the flexibility of using the same rack on both vehicles.
I would recommend these mounts as they seem to have a design that would work in most applications.
Hullo there, I am trying to do the same thing ( I think ) but cannot see how you managed to get the Mightymount clips to connect to a non yakima product. I just sold my BMW 3 series touring with roofrails and I am left with my Thule set of cross bars and bike carriers.Any help would be appreciated. Regards Antonio
The roof rack on my wife's Rogue does not have any Yakima specific mounts, so we ordered these. They do work, but as someone else already stated, they do not lock, so someone could remove the rack with whatever gear is attached.
I only bought the Mighty Mounts after struggling to get the Yakima Hully rollers installed on my Rav4 (unsuccessfully) and after a couple of e-mails to Yakima, where they finally told me what else I needed. When the Mighty Mounts arrived, it was like putting together a puzzle, but we finally figured out which pieces went together, and boxed up the dozens more that we didn't need. THEN came the challenge of getting the Hully Rollers to work with the Mighty Mounts! The whole thing is probably safe enough (we haven't lost the kayak yet) but it's hard to believe that these pieces were meant to work together.
I purchased the universal mighty mounts to secure four yakima landshark racks to my vehicle. The mounts work great. Keep in mind that a set of four (one box) will only supply enough equipment to mount two land shark racks when four are needed to place a canoe or kayak on your vehicle. Great product. Easy to put together. Backcountry exceeded my expectations on quick shipping and easy transaction. Glen from Wyoming.
I would have said 3 stars for "adequate" but they get a "pretty cool" rating because they do attach to nearly any crossbar. I attached my Yakima Raptor bike holder with the mounts, and it worked fine. However, they weren't confidence-inspiring in that they didn't fit as snuggly as factory-specific mounts. Never got that death grip on the crossbar I was hoping for. Still, I drove over 500 miles, most of which at 80mph, with a 30lbs Niner on the roof and everything stayed put.
The Universal Mighty Mounts are really great! Solidly built and easy to install with my Hully Rollers. They come with two sizes of mounts so that they will fit almost any cross bar. Once you get them set up, they are super easy to mount and remove, so you do not have to leave them on the car when you do not need them.
Putting together this setup took hours and then it was very difficult to put bikes on top of car. Once up there they were so unstable I was unable to use the rack and had to send them back and go with a hitch mount. So disappointed!
I purchased the universal Mighty Mount package thinking that it might be an affordable way to use my old Yakima racks.(1994) The tool provided did not fit the nuts that are required for installation. The directions are a little vague on how to mount the ski racks once the mounts are attached to the vehicle. (It doesn't state any instructions) I went to the website for help, but no luck. I had to use my own parts to attach the ski rack to the mounts because my rack has these large wing-type nuts that aren't compatible with the Mighty Mounts (no clearance) I haven't test drove the rack yet, but it seems secure.
I purchased a camper shell that came with a off brand rack. The Universal Mighty Mount fit the bars and I was able to mount a ski carrier. Very happy with the product!
I decided to buy the mounts despite the negative reviews I read. Assembly was a little time consuming due to height of my truck but worth the effort. I installed them on my Nissan Xterra to transport my bikes. The trip from Montréal Qc to Clearwater, FL and back went without any problems. Anyone who has concerns about the sturdiness of this product shouldn't. Driving through a tornado watch in Georgia and rain and high winds in Pennsylvania did even budge the bikes.
These things are great. Once you get it on your car, it's a cinch to take on and off.
I have a 06 Impreza and it was really easy to mount these onto my factory rack. After you get it on the first time, you can take on/off in about 2 minutes, which is great if you want to improve your gas mileage.
