The SuperJoe 3 holds three bikes with ease.

The SuperJoe 3 bike carrier from Yakima gives three bicycles a stable ride to where you ride. Trunk mounted racks are easy to get to and offer an affordable alternative to roof rack systems. The SuperJoe 3 holds three bicycles to the tail end of almost any vehicle. Yakima Stable Cradles secure each bike while the six strap system ensures a solid fit of the rack to the car. The Quick Trigger Hub System makes the SuperJoe 3 easy to install or take off.

The Super Joe is easy to attach to your car and seems secure enough, but after a few big bumps on the freeway the straps loosen up a bit and I have to get out and tighten them to return my peace of mind. I have only ever transported 2 bikes, neither DH. From what I have seen I would be nervous to put 3 big bikes with this rack.

For some reason the red "quick collapse" tabs bound up on a trip and I could no longer collapse the rack. Backcountry gave me a new one that I have not had problems with yet.

Overall a good rack for getting your bikes across town, but keep a close eye on it when your on the freeway or really rough roads.

I was a bit hesitant about using a trunk rack. I had a roof rack with fork mounted trays for several years, but someone stole it! I bought this one since I had two friends coming into town for a gran fondo ride, and I needed to carry 3 bikes. The Super Joe 3 was secure and stable, and it was about 1/4 of the cost of buying a roof rack and three mounts. I had no worries about the rubber coated mounts scratching our bike frames either. And, no issues of the rack or the bikes scratching the car. The main down side is that you can't lock it to your car (I had core locks on my roof rack which didn't seem to stop anyone anyways), and you can't really lock your bikes to the rack. It also restricts rear visibility, and you can't get in the trunk with bikes loaded. However, given all that, I think it was an inexpensive and secure solution.

For someone who has never taken her ski rack off the top of her car (not sure why, just never have), I needed to find another way to transport my bike (and my friends' bikes) on my car. My car doesn't have a hitch so this was the only type of rack I looked into (remember, my roof has my ski rack on it year round).

The rack is absolutely stable with 3 bikes on it. The farthest I've traveled with the rack full is somewhere around 6 hours...in a mix of traffic, driving 75 mph on highways and neighborhood stop-and-go...and the bikes were all in perfect condition when we got to our destination. The only problem bike-wise is that you get a lot of road dirt kicked up on the drivetrain, but that's going to happen with any rear mounting bike rack.

The set up for the rack is so easy it's amazing. Once you get the arms set correctly (which takes maybe 30 seconds) you're ready to throw the bikes on there and tighten up the straps. What I love, too, is how easily it can be moved and adjusted to fit my friends' cars. My only complaint (and it's a small one) is that one of the straps on either side scrapes a little bit on my car, but honestly, the rack makes it so I can get myself, my friends and our rides where we want to be and I couldn't have asked for more.

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking into rear mounting bike racks.

Will this fit on my Subaru Outback?

It should. The arms are adjustable so it can fit on just about any car...fits my Subaru Forester so you should be good to go.

I've put three bikes on this rack, and it was super stable. I like that it has foldable arms, an easy click open and they bend down and click into a locked position when a bike's not on it-- a cool function for a hatch based rack. A bomber rack- the best in it's price range. Easy to take off in the winter.

I used the bike rack to take my bike into the mountains, and it fits perfectly and keeps the bike stable. Excellent price from this site. I'd like the pads to be somewhat larger, but they don't leave significant marks so I'm pleased with it.
