Excellent bike rack for cruiser bikes

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I was looking for a Bike rack that could securely carry two Cruizer bikes. The bikes have fenders and not all bike racks would work properly with them.

Pros:

this Rack is robust, well finished, fits perfectly on the hitch, makes absolutely no noise while driving.

It carries perfectly two cruizer bikes and one of the bikes is a huge 29" bike.

Cons:

The latches seems kind of weak, if I try to push it to hard it will wears out the strap. It happened twice, so now I avoid pushing it too hard, and due to the marks on the strap, I can see when to stop.

Big Up Big up it's Stick Stick up!

Awesome budget tray rack for those looking for a bitch mount. Assembly took me approximately 30 minutes and they include all the tools you need, although the allen wrench is junk, and if your not careful you may strip the hex fitting on the bolt. The tray stows up out of the way and is very simple to load bikes onto. If your not looking to spendd and alot but want a rack with trays this is the way to go. And the best feature on it is the bottle opener for talking shop after your ride.

    Perfect, but only one change

I really enjoy the bike rack. There is one change that I would make though....I wished it would allow you to put your tailgate down without hitting the rack when you are not using it. In both the Subaru Baja and Toyota Tacoma, I have to take off the rack to be able to put my tailgate down or the tailgate will hit the wheel gards of the rack when it is in the folded position. Other than that....it is great!

      Rack'em up

I'm pleased with the overall design and functionality of the rack. There is one small thing I would recommend changing:

It would be nice if the mast (part that clamps on top frame of bike) locked in place for both positions (during transport of bikes) and also when it's in (the folded up) position.

As it is, there is a good deal of free travel where the mast can swing forward hitting the back of the vehicle when folded up.

A quick remedy for this is using a bungee cord.

        Great Product

Bought this so my wife could easily load/unload her bicycle and she loves it. It is simple and easy to use. Just wish it was more easily removable with some kind of locking hitch pin but the system Yakima uses provides a great deal of stability to the rack which many hitch style racks lack. Plus I don't really have to remove it since it swings easily out of the way when accessing my rear door.

Are there any options for locking on this?...

Are there any options for locking on this? Both locking the bike to the rack and the rack to the vehicle? Or just using standard bike locks/cable locks to be figured out by the user?

the stick up fits both 1 1/4 and 2 inch receivers and the attachment to the hitch is curved up to increase ground clearance. It's a great rack and easy to use but I wouldn't recomend it for carbon fiber bikes. They should only be attached by the wheels or the drop outs.
