These are an important add on to any Yakima racking system. Four cores are needed to lock down a RailGrab tower to start off with. After that, it is often useful to have at least 4 more to lock down other racks on to the rails. Getting a larger set could be worth it for future expansion or for multiple cars, if you want to keep the same lock for all cores.

Installation (and removal) just takes a few seconds per core. There is a key unique to the lock, as well as a control key which allows the lock to be removed if needed, after unlocking it.

These work, nothing fancy, but they lock down your rack and any add-ons. Only thing I found when installing them is that you cant tighten down your Q towers too tight or else the lock will not turn to close.

Stop wondering if it's really worth the money and just buy them. I bought twelve and it is so nice to be able to walk away from my car with complete confidence that when i come back, my whole rack system will be there. And if I want to take it apart, the same key works with all of the components, from my towers to my ski racks and back again. Think about the amount of money you have invested in your racks, plus the amount you have invested in the gear that is held by those racks, and $110 for twelve cores starts to sound like a mighty good deal.

High quality and very easy to install. Recommend as a security feature. Wish I bought them years ago

Can I order SKS cores to match the key/SKS cores I already have?

Yes, BUT you have to order them from a Yakima dealer and give them your serial number for the other lock cores, so that the tumblers will match your cores you already have. AGAIN, you must order from Yakima.

This 12 pack is great as it allows me to use one key for my bike and snow racks, and I still have a few more left over for future add-ons.
