The Yakima DoubleDown 2 Bike Rack caries two bikes to the trailhead and also folds down to allow access to your hatch when you need to get gear out of the back. When not in use, the DoubleDown Bike Rack's load bars fold down, so you don't have to drive around with two spikes sticking off the back of your SUV all the times. This stout Yakima hitch rack holds anything from ultralight cross-country rigs to nine-inch downhill bikes.

Love it!

Received this rack as a Christmas present and I have absolutely no complaints. This thing is a tank. I can put my downhill rig and AM rig both on the rack and it doesn't budge while heading over mountain roads to riding territory. Very stable and well set up.

will the yakima doubledown 2 fit a 2008 saturn vue?

Hi there, yeah it will work fine if your Vue has a 2” or 1¼” (class 2 or 3) receiver hitch...

    Pretty nice

I bought this rack last year, and it was a breeze to install. It holds the bikes pretty well with the addition of carrying arms for the top tubes. Although i think i would invest in the hold-up or stick-up next time as far a ease of getting the bikes on and off, in addition to the stick-up holding the wheels in a stationary position. the Double down is nice for the cost though.

Does the Yakima DoubleDown come with a way to lock the bike onto the rack? If not is their an attachment or other easy way to lock your bike?

Beau, it doesn't come with a lock but you can add this.

      Great product

We love the Yakima DoubleDown 2 Bike Rack. The instructions & installation were a breeze; our bikes load and unload easily; the product is made to last. What more could a couple of retired baby-boomers ask for?!!

I need a two unit bike rack that will clear a rear mounted spare tire on a RV.
The 2" receiver face opening is 12" inside of the outer surface of the spare tire (enclosure), so I estimate the overall tongue length of the rack would be about 16" ( to the upright element of the rack). Does the Yakima Double Down unit fit these parameters?

Here are the DoubleDown 2's dimensions:

About 44” high & 28” extension from hitch bolt hole (13" when folded.) About 11.5” between back of mast and hitch bolt hole. Distance from the bolt hole to part of the rack nearest the vehicle is 9". Distance between arms is 12" (center to center).

The 'mast' is what you would call the upright element on the rack. So it looks like it's only 11.5" from the HITCH BOLT HOLE (not the 2" receiver face) and the MAST (or the upright element). I would measure from the hitch bolt hole to the outer surface of the spare tire to get the best idea whether the DoubleDown 2 will fit...

Dude, Jason brought the goods! Nice work Jason, very helpful (for me at least!).

I travel in a Roadtrek (Sprinter van) with two doors that open outward in the back of the van. Does this rack tilt so that I can open these doors to access equipment in the back of my van without having to remove the rack from the hitch?

Will the Yakima double down fit a 2007 GMC Tahoe?

It will if you have a 1" 1/4 or a 2" hitch. That's the beauty of a hitch-mounted bike carrier. It will fit most vehicles if it has a hitch installed. If you don't, a good place to get one is the local U-Haul. They will do it for around $250-$300.

I also like hitch-mounted bike carriers because they can be put on and taken off fairly easy. The anti-sway attachments Yakima uses are the best available. This is an awesome product and a good reason why it's the best selling hitch bike carrier on the market!

Great product! Even better service! The rack works like a charm. Thanks Backcountry!

Will this rack work for womens bikes? How do you mount it?

The hauler slides into place in a trailer hitch mount. Just slide it in where the square tube the trailer ball is connected to slides in, put the cross pin in place and you are ready to haul.

essentially there is an adapter bar that stretches arcoss from the handle bars to seat therefore giving it that flat bar that guys' bikes have. Then the bike can be loaded. Roughly $50. I just got this hitch yesterday and plan on hanging the bike a little differently. Just higher up to where the bars all connect a little closer...Great hitch though for it's adjustable arm so that you can open the hatch without having to take it off

Will this rack still fit if you have a spare tire on the back of your vehicle?

most likely, as long as the back door swings up as opposed to opening out from a hinge on the sits off the car pretty far

Great product - have it hooked up to the Toyota FJ Cruiser and it works great.
