Fast and stable. Long and lean. Sleek and full of storage.

"And" is a key conjunction when you're talking about the Wilderness Systems Tsunami 160 Ruddered Kayak. This kayak merges the speed of an expedition-oriented sea kayak with the stable storage of a touring boat. Now, in one tight-driving kayak, you can scream across open water and take all of the gear necessary for a full week of exploring the small islands of Lake George. The hull from the smaller Tsunami gets stretched without getting wider through the waist for fighter-jet-like speed, and three cavernous hatches swallow your stuff so you're not suffering sleepless nights without your teddy bear and security blanket.

The semi-rigid polyethylene hull takes on a moderate V-shape on the bottom, and gently blurs into multiple chined sides. Lot of bends create long-sweeping lines for a sexy silhouette, quickness through the water, and superb stability from the get-go. Despite this boat's seemingly endless profile, the cockpit stays fairly small. Smaller paddlers won't be swimming in excess space, and somewhat bigger boaters will enjoy the highly responsive fit.

The Phase 3 AirPro XP seat adjusts for a truly personal experience, and several little holes let the air flow freely against your back. The SlideLock footbrace system adjusts with simple finger flick and can be tweaked without even leaving the boat. Padded thigh braces ensure your power paddling position is soft and sweet against your legs, and the BTS rudder gives kayakers of all abilities the option of staying true to course. Neophytes might like the on-board navigation assistance under all conditions, and salty dogs will appreciate the helping hand when wind turns the soothing motion of the ocean into a vomit-inducing roller-coaster ride. Long and lean, this speed-freak machine of boat lets you generate some wake as you take a week-long tour of, well, anything on the water.
