When the surf's up, throw the Wilderness Systems Ripper Sit-On-Top Kayak on top of your car and head to the beach. This kayak's rockered hull loves the waves, while the skeg gives you enough tracking to paddle straight on calm days. The Ripper Kayak's adjustable back rest keeps you from hobbling around like Frankenstein's Egor after a few hours of paddling, and molded foot braces give you extra paddling stability as you power through the waves. The stern tankwell bungees secure a cooler if you're out for a leisurely trip across the lake.

Bottom Line: Wilderness Systems didn't name this sit-on-top the Ripper just cause it sounded cool.

Ripper Slipper

I've enjoyed my Yak on lake & ocean. It's a pretty cool machine! I'm not the most experienced Yaker so it gives me enough mobility to compensate for my lack thereof. I like that it isn't too large & fits right on the bed of my Toyota Tacoma. Anyway, it works good for me.

I'm new at kayaking and I'm thinking of buying one.

I'm new at kayaking and I'm thinking of buying one. I like lakes alot and like the idea of the 'sit on top' style so I can just drop into the water for a swim and get out of easily. Seems much easier to do with this style then a typical fresh water kayak.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Tell me more about the skeg - does it raise and lower or is it

Tell me more about the skeg - does it raise and lower or is it a permanent part of the under side of the kayak's contour? Is the back rest part of the kayak or something extra?
