Sleek, stable, and every so often, speedy.

Roomy and stable on the water, the Wilderness Systems Pungo 140 Kayak boasts a spacious cockpit and extra length needed for paddlers who shop in the big-and-tall section of the clothing store. The longest-limbed member of the Pungo family, this 14-foot honey of a boat offers fore and aft storage for an overnighter on the island in the lake or your full panoply of photography gear. Whether you're a polished paddler or an evolving 'yakker, this boat offers a smooth, predictable ride across the lake or down a river that only moseys.

The Pungo 140 bears a strikingly similar profile to its smaller siblings; all have a modified V running down the center of the hull, sharp chines, and flared (or bellowed) sides resembling keels on a canoe. As such, the Pungo 140 has the same superb initial and secondary stability as its smaller kin, and it has the same tracking abilities across flat water. Just like a birthmark might differentiate identical twins, the distinguishing feature of the Pungo 140 (other than the obvious additional length) is a skinnier waist. With only 28 inches through the widest part of the boat, veteran paddlers will be able to pick up a little steam without much effort.

The Phase 3 AirPro seat supports your back and thighs and adjusts in several dimensions with a simple tug or two. The SlideLock footbrace system holds your paws steady, while thigh and knee pads protect your legs from side-wall bruises. Even though the cockpit dimensions might seem like the entryway to a mega-mansion, you can still fit a spray skirt over it if you're afraid of melting. The Kayak Konsole comes off when you're toting bulky items, and you still have bow and stern hatches to store extra gear or beer.
