Let’s face it—some tandem kayaks really skimp on width and space. The Wilderness Systems Pamlico 135T Tandem Recreational Kayak gives you a craft that won’t feel like a small floating coffin. The super-wide cockpit runs almost the full length of the boat, so it’s easy to get in and out, and comfortable to sit in. Fine-tune the seat position or easily change this tandem to a solo boat if your buddy bailed at the last minute. A foam-padded adjustable back rest and thigh support help prolong sitting comfort while you paddle across the lake or explore low-current rivers.

When comparing this to the listing on Wilderness System's page, the only difference I am seeing is the updated Phase3 seating. But that could just be chalked up to old stock photos. The best thing you could do would be to click the "Chat Now" link in the upper right hand corner and talk to a live service rep during regular business hours. They can have one of the stockman in the warehouse check the year of manufacture on the boat's statement of origin to confirm when it was made. This will give the exact date the boat was made, though I'm not sure when exactly they started making the boats with new seating according to their website the new boats were available for sale as of October 15, 2010.

Does this come with a small child seat in addition to the two main seats? I've read several places on-line where people say that they loved that about this kayak, but there is no mention of it in the description and it is not shown in the pics.

The boat does not come with the child seat. With a little research I found that perception (part of the Confluence watersports umbrella, as is Wilderness systems) used to offer it. Now the only place I could find it is here:

in fact i crossed the main part of the va.creek (in pa.) we would call this a strong river it stays on top of the chop even with the strong winds of the chesapeake. when the tides shift i stayed when i didn't feel like paddling it stays high on top of tides .stable and reassuring a little hard on turns in high wind just use paddle as rutter and face the winds. now i have a clue what the indian must have felt when crossing parts of chesapeake its peaceful and somewhat spiritual. try a kayak if your looking for what it means to be alive.

Yes, the paddle is purchased separately. There is no paddle holder on this boat. There are carry handles front and rear, and yes it can be shipped, but it will be freight class which costs a few coins to have delivered to a residential address. You can save a few pesos by having it sent to a commercial address if you have that option.

Hi Joan
I just got this kayak a couple weeks ago and put it in the water for the first time last week. It is great and I think I'll be very happy with it. I have two small kids [9 YO and 7 YO] who like to kayak and will fit nicely in this one as well. It isn't too heavy and it goes nicely thru the water. For me and my limited money, this was a very good choice to take the kids and my friends cruising on the lake or river.
