Description

Fish, photograph, or take Fido for a spin around the lake.

If your idea of a relaxing weekend involves a full cooler, a fly rod, and a long-zoom lens, turn to the Wilderness Systems Commander 140 Kayak. The boat blurs defining lines between boats, taking bits of pieces from canoes, sit-on-top kayaks, angling workhorses, and sit-inside kayaks. With a bit more storage space and carrying capacity than its little brother, the 140 lets you prolong your adventures even further.

Built with a similar silhouette as the Ride series, the Commander's profile evokes pontoon boats, and it has a keel running down the middle so you won't find yourself paddling in circles like a one-finned orca whale. Longer and narrower than the Ride, this kayak loses a little standing room in the cockpit, but unless you're doing your best Chuck Norris impression, it's not likely to make much difference. Standing to cast or crouching behind your tripod won't tip the boat or leave you angling for more space. The AirPro Freedom Elite seating system sits on an elevated platform, giving you a commanding view of everything around, and allowing you to move about more freely when the fish are fighting.

Kayakers of all kinds will relish in this ultimate hobby boat. The adjustable SlideLock foot brace system means the WNBA star and her shorter husband can both enjoy a custom leg fit. The Commander comes rudder ready (rudder sold separately) if you're angling to try drift fishing. An optional motor mount lets you tack on a trolling motor. Cram kibble, sleeping bag, and tent into a dry bag, secure it with the bungee in the stern tankwell, and set out for an overnight with your four-legged friend. When you're back on shore, Comfort Carry handles and a skid plate make it easy to bring the boat back to your car.
