Wild Country's Variable Controller Set includes the VC belay device as well as the Synergy HMS Carabiner for gym and single-pitch sport climbing. The VC device was one of the first to evolve out of traditional belay plates, with a widened wedge that feeds out rope quickly but ensures friction while rappelling. Wild Country designed the Synergy HMS Carabiner with a classic screw-locking gate and a modern keylock nose to prevent hooking.
