Description

Loose the weight and keep the strength with the Wild Country Helium Clean Wire Carabiner.

Your knees are trembling and your arms are pumped, but the Wild Country Helium Clean Wire Carabiner saves you from the big fall with its easy-clipping design and light weight. Wild Country uses I-beam construction to lower this full-size carabiner's weight to a low 1.2oz without sacrificing strength. The Helium Clean Carabiner also has a covered nose profile to allow snag-free clipping and keep the gate from being pushed open accidentally. Whether you're clipping bolts, plugging cams, or swinging ice tools, these strong, lightweight carabiners should be hanging from your rack.

I have at least a dozen draws that never get used anymore becuase solid gate keylock biners and these helium biners have ruined me for using anything with a traditional notch on the nose. These biners are super light and have great gate action. I use them on all of my trad draws.

Easy to clip, doesn't hang up, great rope bearing surface. I really like these and hoodwires right now.

Hello , is it true that Helium have a wide nose and because of the wide nose it's hard to get in/out of some anchors like chain links or old school hangers with the small hole?

no, they should fit. I never thought of them as "wide"

Because of the design of the design of the no-catch gate, the nose is a little wider. On some small chain links or anchor holes, you may have trouble with fit. I carry two D carabiners just in case. It is still the best rope-end and all-purpose non-locking carabiner ever made. Don't let this dissuade you from buying this truly awesome piece of gear. The best locking carabiner ever made, in my opinion, is the Rock Exotica Pirate which Backcountry doesn't sell.

The nose might be a tad wider, but it's never been anywhere close to an issue. Plenty small enough to still fit through anything designed for a carabiner

Best non-locker ever made. It now comes in a 5-color pack (no green) to rack your cams! Picture shows the Heliums attached to new Camalot C4 0.3-3 and Link Cams. Top right corner shows a BD Neutrino next to a Helium. The Helium is larger and stronger but lighter! Just the best carabiner ever made! Light, strong, and awesome gate!

This photo clearly shows green heliums on the 0.75 cams. Any explanation for where those came from?

Anodized green spray paint. :)

Haven't used these on my cams yet, don't have the colors. But Heliums are on all of my trad and alpine draws. Super light and no notch to catch on small dyneema slings.

Love the larger size and the design of both the wire gate and snag proof nose. However, I may be a little partial to the BD hoodwire. Worth a look due to size performance and price.

If you are buying two or more of these I'd recommend (in hindsight) picking up the Wild Country Helium Clean Wire Quickdraws for $0.05 more.

For a full size biner, these are about as light as you can get and i love the clean nose feature. They've got a pretty wide opening and are easy to handle with gloves when ice climbing. I've been using mine on hand tied "long" draws mostly for trad routes where a traditional QD isn't long enough for clearing rope drag but i don't need a full 2' runner either. The only reason I'd say not to get these is if you're on a very limited budget. They are kind of steep (you could get 2 camp orbit wire gates plus a section of cord and tie your own draw for the same as one of these guys)

5 stars for quality and awesomeness, 4 stars for price :(

This is by far the best carabiner on the market today. Super lightweight (33g) and no notch at the nose make these my weapon of choice for both bolt and rope-end on my draws. Clips feel like butter. Also use these to rack multiple pieces; no more getting wires caught when trying to place a nut in a hurry.

Buy these, you won't be disappointed.

Yes, they are both beautiful and functional. I think most users would be perfectly happy with a WC Nitro on the rope-end, and a Helium on the bolt-end - that is, if you want to save a few bucks. For some reason I've ended up using most of my Heliums to rack my trad gear, while on my draws I have a 42g solid gate on the bolt-end, and a Nitro (35g) on the rope-end. As another reviewer noted, it can be difficult to insert the rather large Helium nose through some fixed anchors, so make a few "special" draws specifically for anchoring, if that is your preferred technique. I doubt any major carabiner "advances" will dethrone the light but mighty Helium in the near future.

These things are really the best you can get for all around carabiner and it shows in the price. They are light for a full size biner. Also the no catch nose stops works like a charm. Because of it there is no catch point for sling, rope, or anything else to catch on and potentially cross load the biner. Even he petzl spirit(best solid gate in my opinion) can catch where the gate connects to the biner.

...short of breast reduction. Excellently light with nice smooth gate action. The covered nose profile is essential because who wants to waste energy trying clip a rope on that hard send. I use these on my trad runners, but as many have mentioned, between the weight and performance, I'm seriously considering investing in an additional 10 Heliums for my sport draws. Totally worth the cost.

I use these everywhere, tying up food sacks to strapping gear to my pack. Maybe one day I will put this to it's intended use but for now, it's a great utility item/on in my pack.

This is hands down the best biner made today. Lightweight, full size (yeah there are biners that are lighter but they border on "toy size" - fine for moderate alpine use but not good for difficult clips) and STRONG. This is one of only a few biner with a full 10kN open gate strength ( really the only important strength rating to look at") DMM's Spectre (another awesome biner) has this as well. The wire gate will feel a bit stiff to people coming from something like a Hotwire but is BETTER IMO after you adjust to it. The keylock nose is great as well - best of both worlds. Note that the nose is a bit wider than say a Hotwire so getting it through narrow chain at some anchors may be hard. I still carry an old school BD "d" or two to cover that though. If cost is a concern (they are pricey) I suggest heliums for the "bolt" ends and WCs new Nitro for other things. Essentially a Helium without the notch-less nose. (You do loose 1kN in the open gate strength - Hotwire is also 9kN)

Great gear!

Super expensive but it's finally here: the lightness and gate reliability (low gate mass reduces accidental openings, they last long, etc.) and the wonderful simplicity and pump-saving keylock.

Best of both worlds - soon there will be little else on my rack.
