Astro-nomically lightweight.

Put your rack on a diet with the insanely light and strong Wild Country Astro Quickdraw. This ultralight quickdraw features two of Wild Country’s one-ounce Astro wiregate carabiners with an smooth-clipping, and snag-free hooded nose. I-Beam technology keeps the strength high and the weight low, and the Tadpole rubber insert helps the clipping end stay properly oriented.

I try to save weight where I can and this seems like a good place to start. A little longer dog bone would not hurt, but I think these are great!. clip well and are so light. I'm happy and they look real nice too.

are the crabs full size on the Astro? how do they stack up to the Heliums? I love WC gear but fear these may be too small. Any input would be much appreciated. thanks!

no, The biners in Astro are pretty small. They are simillar to Black Diamond Oz. However - there is a bigger version of Astro which is Wild Country Nitro biner. Heliums and Nitros are both the same full size yet still light. Heliums have those clean nose bonus but they are much more expensive. They have also wider nose so it could be a little harder for them to clip into older bolts. I bought one Astro couple of days ago to check it out and it turned out too small, almost like a toy biner. It may be good on big walls where You have 40 of them but for like 12-15 in crags or shorter 1-2 days mountain routes I prefer bigger binners over smaller ones. I think Nitro is the best choice considering the price.

Hey, I want to buy biners for my 8mm dyneema slings to make alpine extendable quickdraws. Im debating on buying Wild Country Nitros or Astros for that purpose. I saw Astro and they seem a little bit to small, but they are lightweight. I see opinions that Nitros are bigger - full sized biners so they would fit my hand better I think, but they are heavier than astros.. On the other hand its only 7gram per biner and I would have max 12 of them in my backpack. I have climbed only with full sized biners so I don't know if size difference is really an issue. Some say that its harder to clip in into smaller ones.. I dont know which to choose. Im kinda into Nitros - Thin, lightweight sling and a slightly heavier biner - Nitro (but a full sized, friendly size and still lighter than most full sized biners)? Anyone ?

nice light quickdraws it has all the right features. the only gripe is it could have the different colored biners but not the biggest deal when there are quickdraws out there with out the rubber piece and dont have bent gates. the only difference from the product to the picture is i ordered the 15cm and my dogbones were black not that big a deal to me just thought i would point that out it may be that the 10cm quickdraws have the red dogbones and the 15cm have the black not sure though

My 15cm dogbones were red, but I also ordered wild wire draws and they came with black dogbones and not red as depicted. Maybe they thought black would help me distinguish between the 2, but I hate black, so I traded with someone.

This is a great draw...its small, light and easy to rack, for the most part. My only complaint with these draws is that both binners are the same color and style and thus the only difference between the rock and rope ends is the rubber portion of the rope end. It can make racking slightly difficult - but then again, I could also just use tape! They are small so for people with big hands or those who hate small binners...you may want to look elsewhere!
