Your descent may be marked by sections of wind-scoured snow, portions of sheltered powder, and painfully manky exits, so having a ski that will handle all of these different types of snow is key to having a successful day in the backountry. The Whitedot Ranger .98 Ski is designed to be versatile enough to ski a wide range of snow conditions while being light on the skintrack and powerful during the descent.

Made with a sandwich construction, the Ranger .98 will remain stable when you're skiing fast, but remain nimble enough to navigate narrow chutes and tight tree lines thanks to a rockered tip and minimal camber underfoot. Whitedot built the Ranger to last with a poplar and ash core—soft poplar in the tip and tail keeps the ski snappy and easy to ski thanks to poplar's light and playful feel, while hard ash underfoot gives the skin increased power underfoot and offers better binding retention, so you won't have to worry too much about ripping your binding out when skiing hardpack conditions. Keeping the ski light, but adding torsional rigidity are two carbon, Kevlar stringers, which help give the Ranger.98 a damp feel when skiing at speed. Whitedot engineered this ski for long tours and big ski mountaineering objectives, so the addition of a notched aluminum tail was key to keep skins secure, and to help keep the ski firmly in place when utilized as an anchor.
