Basic Reel at a great price

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This is not your high end, high dollar real. In my opinion, this is a great starter reel, backup reel, or small rod reel. I have this reel on my two weight and look at it as a line holder as I will rarely, if ever, have to use a lot of drag on my small rod. It doesn't have the best finish out there, but for a cast reel at 30 bucks, you can't go wrong.

Don't understand the negative aspects noted by other reviewers. This is a great reel for the money. It has a smooth pull, consistent and nice feel of the ball bearings. I found the drag to be acceptable. Machining is not bad either. The reel has a great look and very nice performance. I've been fly fishing for over 30+ years and used many different reels -some high end and other very inexpensive. This reel bridges the gap really well for those that still want a nice reel without a lot of unnecessary costs.

You get what you pay for.

    Inexpensive reel and it shows. The casting is very pour quality with several air pockets. One of the bolt holes stripped out the first time it was tightened. The drag setting isn't fine enough to have decent resistance when drawing line from the reel without it being either too tight or unspooling.
