Why We Like The Western Mountaineering Expedition GWS Bootie

Western Mountaineering's Expedition Down Booties make all the difference in the world when we're at camp and the temperature drops. WindStopper fabric protects our feet and ankles from chilly gusts, while 800-fill goose down provides soft, robust warmth while we wait for the storm to clear before that final push to the summit.

Thin Sole - Not properly tested-returned

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
XL

There seems to be ample (down) insulation above the foot in these booties however the sole is only about 1/4-3/8" thick which in my mind doesn't sound like a lot of insulation to be walking around on the snow. There is a gap between the sole foam and the down insulation that i assume will be a cold bridge. these may very well be okay but I'm not field testing them due to the $140 price tag. I bought Baffin Cush instead for $50 and will field test these. I typically do 2 night camping trips on the east coast where the temperatures get down to 0degree F while sitting at camp.
