Good touring pants

Bought these pants after I got fed up with snow entering through the outside ventilation zips of my prior touring pants. Westcomb conveniently put the ventilation on the inseams, making brushing against steep snow banks less of an issue. They breathe pretty well - I'm a fan of eVent. Got the bark color, which is pretty inobtrusive. Biggest suggestion for improvement is to have zippered pockets and a useful pocket for a beacon.

Couple questions. Are these insulated? Anyone have thoughts on this eVent fabric and how it stacks up to GoreTex? Does this have reienforcement on the inside of the ankle to prevent my edges from riping the fabric? Thanks for the info!

No they're not insulated. eVent is supposed to be more breathable than GoreTex. I've had eVent jackets before and agree they seemed to breathe better and still be waterproof. And yes, they are reinforced. I have a pair of these pants and am happy with them.

Just got these in the mail.
My wife got a set of the vapor pants a couple of years ago, and I had been jealous of the quality of the pants. I had been waiting for a reasonable price and a color I like.
COLOR: I just got the Mesa color pants in the mail and i can's wait for next season (it is currently june). I really like the color, but the website color rendition is fairly poor. Think mustard. It is definately not an orange, but more a burnt yellow. That said, I really like it.
FIT: I am 5'10, 175 lbs. I usually wear 34 inch waist , 32 inseam. I ordered both the medium and large, with plans to return one. I think I am going to keep the large. The medium would fit well for street pants, but for ski pants I want a bit more room to move. The large is a bit bigger than I like, but should work well with long underwear and give room to move. The fit will not be baggy, but will not be form fitting. Generally, I like closer fitting clothes.
Overall, the quality seems top notch.
Anyway, can't wait to use them next season.
Great ski pant

Got the pant in Med, I am 33 inch waist, fits snug, but durable. They fit almost like jeans- pretty sculpted at the top. Overall fits better thsan Arcteryx or Patagonia pants. I like the high back, but would prefer suspenders for a ski pant. The fabric so far feels great, looks durable, and the weave pattern is almost like denim. Definitely one of the best pants on the market.
Next year- Westcomb- please make at least one of the hand pockets zippable- that way I can keep there my car keys or a cell phone and not worry about them,

How tall are you? What inseam pants do you normally wear? I'm sure I'm a medium in the waist, but I've gotten the impression that these pants run quite long. I'm a little short at 5'9" and usually wear a 30" inseam. Arc'teryx Medium pants are probably an inch or so long on me, which is fine, but I don't think I'd want to go longer. Not interested in tearing these things up walking through parking lots - would rather do that on the mountain. Do you think I'd be OK?

Are these insulated at all? Anyone have any thoughts on this eVent fabric stuff and how it stacks up against a GoreTex type material? What about reienforcements around the interior of the ankle to prevent my edges from tearing the fabric? Thanks for the help!
amazing quality

This has to be one of the best constructed ski pants I've ever seen. The fabric has good weight to it, feeling rugged and durable, but maybe a little too stiff. I also have a Westcomb jacket, and these pants snap to the powder skirt of the jacket for a secure connection. I spent a warm weekend on the slopes @ mammoth. It reached a high of 50, but never once did I feel sweaty. My only complaint is that they are very baggy and way too long. I'm on the short side @ 5'6, but I feel like you need to be 5'11 for a good fit.
