Westcomb created the high-performance Men's Mirage Special Edition Jacket exclusively for us, and during our first ski tour, we quickly discovered what makes it a step above the rest—eVent. eVent fabric not only provides waterproof protection, but lets sweat vent directly through the fabric and escape up to twice as fast as through common waterproof breathable materials. Direct Venting Technology = no condensation and no more clammy arms. This makes the Mirage Special Edition Jacket ideal for ski touring, hiking, alpine climbing, or any aerobic activity in cold, wet weather. Westcomb outfitted the Mirage Special Edition Jacket with a trim athletic fit, articulated elbows, and a contoured water-repelling zipper.

I've been skiing Squaw Valley for the past month in my Mirage Jacket made by Westcomb. Its "EVENT" fabric is absolutely outstanding-- just as windproof and waterproof as the finest Gore-tex. However, unlike Gore-tex it BREATHES incredibly. I was warm in the cold and wind, and comfortable with no sweat during my high energy descents without venting. "Event" is a technological breakthrough!

I've owned hard shells from most of the other major brands but sought out a shell that was made from eVent and I'm so happy I did. This shell is a solid performer. I wore it while skinning nearly 6000 vertical and then while skiing back down and it was dry inside despite sweating. The cut is perfect for backcountry skiing, ice climbing, etc. No frills, just a solid look at feel. The description says a sleeve pocket but not on this model. The hood covered my helmet when the wind kicked up bigtime. Dry, warm, and it breathes - it's perfect!
