    More power to the pedals

The VP Components VX Adventure Race is its top-tier SPD-compatible pedal. Using its knowledge of platform pedals, VP constructed a pedal that creates a larger interface with shoe while allowing the use of clipless pedals. This additional surface also helps to transfer power directly to the pedals so that every stroke counts.

The 72mm-wide platforms were constructed from aluminum, while the retention pieces are heat-treated steel for maximum durability. The release tension is fully adjustable to ensure that you clip-in and out easily. The axle is forged, heat-treated, CNC machined cromoly containing roller and double-sealed cartridge bearings. High quality oil seals have been included to ensure longevity—and, when the need arises, the pedals are fully rebuildable.

Nice build quality but dangerous release

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these pedals because of the nice platform and good weight. It turns out that the general build quality is also excellent so that's a plus. What kills the deal is the terribly inconsistent release. Most of the time they release nice and smoothly but once in a while something causes them to stick and not release so they really are unusable and borderline dangerous.

I stopped using them last summer because of this.

    Awesome Pedals.

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just put these on my 2015 Santa Cruz Nomad, and so far they've out preformed my expectations they're super high quality and fit very well with my SPD cleats, the bigger platform has more contact with my foot giving me more control when turning through the berms all in all I'm a big fan so far.
