Don't be vexed by pedal choices

VP Component's VP-Vex Pedal is an entry-level platform pedal that takes you on the trails or to the bike park with features that trickle down from its more pricey relatives. They are durable and provide excellent grip in all conditions.

The body of the pedals was formed from die cast aluminum. Each platform measures 105mm x 102mm and is designed with dual concavity so that you feel secure no matter what side your foot comes to rest upon. The platforms have 10 steel traction pins that are replaceable. The CNC machined axle turns on smooth LSL and sealed cartridge bearings. The pedals come with an optional reflector and a rebuild kit is also available separately.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had multiple small cuts from the studs on these pedals. This one is the mother of 'em all. Happened when my crank hit a rock and my right foot slipped forward off the pedal.

I've never seen this happen with other platform pedals. Maybe I ride too hard for my actual ability.

    I like 'em!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are durable pedals for a competitive price. The pedal is wide and flat so you have a lot of surface area to push from. The studs grip to just about any shoe, yet I can't feel them at all while I'm riding.

As with any studded pedal, beware of it hitting the back of your leg. It definitely doesn't feel good to have ten metal studs digging into your calf.

    Perfect for me

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I don't like clipping in whatsoever, and I'm a bit of a mtb newb, but these pedals have been sweet for trail riding so far both ups and downs. Haven't tried them out in a park setting yet. And once you take off those lame reflectors they are great looking too.
