The Volkl Tigershark 12 Foot Power Switch Alpine Ski with Motion iPT 14.0 TS Binding features the world's first on-board power adjustment system. Want to lay it all on the line on the groomers? Turn the Power Switch to the on position. A carbon fiber rod compresses internal springs toward the front of the ski, which gives the Tigershark more power. Leave the switch off for cruising or the occasional tree run. Extended Double Grip construction lends this ski amazing edge hold, while the Tigershark's iPT 14.0 TS Binding allows for a smooth, natural flex and precise transmission from skier input to the snow. Two layers of titanium make this all-mountain Volkl ski appropriate for advanced all-mountain skiers who Mach down the groom and enjoy the occasional off-piste foray.

Bottom Line: If you want a more high-tech ride than this Volkl ski, you'll have to hop in the space shuttle.

volkl??????????

I am a big mountain style of skier in Montana, but I wanted something that could rip on hard pack days. These ripped it up for sure, but after 3 days on groomers they cracked on the tips all the way through the window that shows the rod and spring inside. Thankfully I bought them from BACKCOUNTRY.COM who backs there products because I contacted Volkl and they were not helpful at all. If I didn't buy these from backcountry I probably would be stuck with $1500.00 wall hangers. It was a bummer because they skied so well and it was probably just a flaw, but when volkl charges high prices and don't back their shit, that is a big chance to take. I would never recommend volkl.... EVER!! good skis just shitty customer service. Take lessons from Burton Volkl Guru (you know who you are)...

The best on-piste ski on the mountain

By:
January 2, 2009

Bought these last year. I live in the midwest and also took them to Utah. On the groomers, these can't be beat. Rock solid at speed and confidence inspiring. That's with the switch off. Turn it on and the ski gets better, livelier and quicker. It's easy to lose sight of your speed so be ready for some whistles through the slow areas on the mountain.

The Tigershark isn't a bad ski to have in boot deep powder. It is 79 mm under foot with a fairly wide shovel, so it will do ok in not too deep snow. But it is meant as a more of a groomer/all mountain ski.

Ripping on Rails!

By:
November 7, 2008

Bartending near Deer Valley gives you some benefits. After no new snow for a few days I grabbed a pair of these from Christy's. I did everything I could to get out of shape on this ski, and simply couldn't do it! This is one of the funnest groomer/mogul skis I've ever been on. I was having so much fun, I completely forgot about using the switch!
If there's no new snow, or you're an on piste skier, this is a fantastic ski!

I played on that ski last year. I've never pushed a ski on groomers so hard and felt so confident. I skied harder and faster than I ever had including into some uncomfortable speeds and situations, and literally felt like I was always on rails. Tried to ski out of control and couldn't do it.Unbelievable ski.

Great all mountain ski

By:
March 9, 2009

I'm a new skier (former snowboarder). Started skiing on other skis this season, bought these after getting an amazing deal on them. I ski on the east coast and these skis are awesome in the harder, icier conditions we have here. Awesome skis, can't wait for next year so I can use them for the entire season.
