Description

Backcountry-specific plank with a profile that's built to dispense smiles.

Saving energy on the skin up and delivering a supremely stable ride on the way back down, the Volkl Nunataq Ski turns single-lap dawn patrols into multi-lap hero days. The fully rockered, zero-camber profile and mid-fat underfoot keep the tips from diving and deliver supreme turnability, while a relatively stiff flex let you point the tips and charge when the chargin' is good. Mount it tele or mount it AT; either way, climb aboard this faithful, lightweight steed and tear up everything from steep couloirs to mellow, mid-angle trees.
  • Torsion box construction blends a capped top with sidewalls for a more consistent flex, improved stability, and weight savings
  • Multilayer wood core blends poplar and beech for weight savings and includes a layer of fiberglass for added strength
  • Full rocker profile features raised tips, a slightly raised tail, and a flat, zero-camber underfoot for exceptional performance in powder
  • Skin Pin grooves allow for easy attachment of Volkl's pre-cut skins (skins sold separately)

I am soooo bummed. My wife spent 3 hours on the phone with a BC.com rep.. she hooked me up with he Nunataq 170cm, Dynafit titan boot, and he sold her the wrong skin (dynafit speed skin 160cm). Now when I look, i cant find the custom volkl skin for my ski? Does anyone know where to find? is there another skin that will work?

Just got my 178s, and they are ridiculously light. My question is...what's the best recommended Marker binding for these. I've got a Marker Jester on my Fischer Watea 94s, but anybody have any input on Marker Baron vs. Duke vs. Jester for these bad boys? Will be skied mostly BC and don't plan on doing much skinning. Thanks so much.

Baron and Duke are the same except DIN setting Duke has a higher setting. Both Baron and Duke have hike function. If you are going to skin grab the Duke or Baron.

If you are not going to skin grab the Jester or Griffon (depending on your DIN preference). If you are not going to purchase skins for these skis no need for AT bindings.

Hope this helps.
Good luck!

I just received my pair of the "178 cm" Nunataqs. They weighed 3490g (pair). That's 7lbs 11oz for those of you who like old school units. BTW, I'm pretty confident that my scale is reasonably well calibrated.

The good news is that not only are they lighter than advertised, but I also measured them at 180 cm tip to tail. So you get two centimeters of extra ski for free! :-)
