A style this rad deserves the best protection.

Stand out in the backcountry or the resort in the Volcom Women's Shot 3L Gore-Tex Jacket. Its 3-layer construction includes Gore-Tex's guaranteed waterproofing that remains breathable for skinning, and YKK AquaGuard zippers provide additional water-resistant protection that most jackets don't have. An EQS fit slims the Shot at the waist and sleeves for a sleeker style, and the curved hem gives a feminine touch.

The Shot also features a Face Tech Face Mask that you can tuck away inside the adjustable hood. The jacket's adjustable powder skirt connects to compatible ski pants for complete coverage. There are soft Lycra hand gaiters, V-Science 2-way adjustable cuffs, and a cinch-cord at the hem. There are also multiple pockets for goggles, music players, and more. The Recco avalanche rescue system may help Recco-equipped ski patrols find you in case of an emergency.

This jacket truly is a shell and since it's made with Gortex the outside is pretty stiff.

    Zipper felt weak and plastic.

    Fashionable not functional

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

Out of the bag I loved this jacket, and I am pretty sure that if I were to be doused by a firehose while wearing it I would stay dry. I am 5’5”, 120 lbs, 34” chest, 27” waist and the medium fit exactly as it was designed to; however, the design leaves much to be desired! The jacket hits at crotch level in the front and just below the bum in back. The length will save you from a wet rear on a snowy chairlift but that is the extent of the good it will do you. Because of the length you will fight this jacket for mobility. Sitting or standing the jacket locks around your bum making it difficult to raise/move your arms, let’s face it, sometimes it is hard enough to reach your toes without fighting your clothing to do it! For a snowboarder the binding around the bum also causes the jacket to try to twist as you carve. The length also causes problems with the zipper. The zipper is one that allows you to open it from the bottom up, I imagine the idea was to access the powder skirt or your pants easier than having to unzip the entire zipper. The trouble is that since the jacket sits right where your hips move and bend, the zipper unzips itself at the bottom. As for the zip tech (jacket to pant system), I am thrilled that it “works” with the older pieces from the line! At over $400 a pop I try to make my clothing last a while, and rarely have the budget to buy both pants and jacket in the same year. Unfortunately saying that it “works” is not saying it is 100% compatible. The zippers zip together, but the jacket zipper is longer than the older pant zipper, the result is that they twist from not being centered and you end up with extra length of zipper on the jacket side. Another issue is that this is a very thin shell and it is a slim fit, the combination makes laying desirable but not practical. My warmest under layers won’t fit under the jacket making it useless for the cold wet weather that I bought it for and makes me wonder why the manufacturer would waste GorTex (in turn I wasted money) on this design! My last gripe is with the music pocket which sits directly over your boob and reaches under your arm. If you put a phone or other device in there you have a square silhouette over your boob and it is uncomfortable!

Does this have insulation? Will it keep me warm?
