Gitty-up. The incredible grip, slide, and durability of the Voile Splitboard Climbing Skins will have your skier buddies bribing you to break trail.

The Voile Splitboard Climbing Skins are splitboard-specific skins designed to get you into the backcountry. The Voile Tractor Skins' bomber riveted stainless steel tip-loops take the abuse of ascending and ensure they stay securely on your board. Voile used the most tenacious glue and super grippy hydrophobic nylon mohair to keep you ascending into thin air. These extra-wide climbing skins come complete with a nylon bag and trim tool to make sure they fit any splitboard.

Splitboard 101: Pucks, Bindings, Skins.

Posted on

This video shows how to mount Voile pucks onto a splitboard, and setup your bindings (the Tesla system) by Spark R&D. Then learn how to cut and fit new skins (with tail clips by G3/Black Diamond/Spark R&D) to your board.

This was a day where skiers needed fat boys and snowboarders needed a directional powder weapon.

Will these fit on a board that is 164 CM ?

Best Answer Responded on

They'll fit just fine. the very tail of the board won't be covered but thats no big deal. I use them on my 166 and 168 splits, zero problems

Responded on

Used them on a 173 myself with no big issues. More a skinning technique problem if they come loose than a product malfunction.

I have never had a problem with them on my Voile RX 66 either. and they are in their fourth season of abuse and still going strong. Remember wax.

Sick Skins!

Got them in today first impression that look meaty but light weight overall. Waiting on my sparks tail clips before I start cutting them to size. Cant wait to tryem out.

I put the plastic that comes with the skins in between the 2 skins or you could buy a skin saver.

Excellent Product

I found them pretty easy to cut and apply, so I'm backing them. I'll have a better update when the snowpack out here in the Wasatch gets better and I really put them to the test.

Good skins

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These skins are pretty good and hold quite well. I haven't had any issues with these so far, and I've used them a good amount. Easy enough to cut with the tool provided, although I usually use a box cutter instead.

Awesome times!

Easy to trim and easy to use. The hardest part of skinning up the hill is getting these things apart to apply them.

Good Skins

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had these skins for 3 years and they have held up so far. I need to reapply some adhesive in certain areas, but that was my fault for not scraping enough wax off my split (some was transferred to the skins, I'll have to heat it up to get the wax off and reapply). Really easy to trim, just got a new board for this season and had to trim them again. The only reason I wont give 5 stars to this is because they do not come with a tail clip.

Can anyone share the details of how they rigged their homemade tail clips? Would some short, flat bungee cords do the trick?

Spark R and D makes split specific tail clips that work great.

Skin Specs

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

Just so everyone knows the sizing for these skins, I found the sizing specs on Voile's website: 130mm Wide x 152cm length

Best split skins available!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These skins are bomb proof. I am about to start the 6th season with them and it wasn't until last winter I got the spark tail clips as the glue is getting worn. Other skins that I see out there only last a year or two before the skin material begins to shred.

Voile Splitboard Climbing Skins

These Voile Splitboard Climbing Skins are easy to trim, easy to pull, and easy to apply. My husband rigged up some homemade tail clips! I would recommend skin wax if your skins are a few seasons old, the wax helps a lot! Trim tool works great!

Decent skins

Voile does a pretty good job with these skins. They are easy to trim and pretty easy to use. It would be nice if there was some form of tail clip similar to the G3 option. All-in-all they definitely get the job done.

Solid

Have used these for a season and they are holding up well. As others have noted they are super sticky, would be nice to have some skin savers to make them easier to peel apart. Have not had trouble with them coming loose despite the lack of tail clips, if needed I may invest in some aftermarket tail clips from Spark R&D, also like the idea of the homemade bungee job in the photo above. Have not used any other system to compare, but Voile's asymmetric nose clips align perfectly with the board halves and seem solid.

I've got the spark tail clips on these skins and they are bomber, just remember, "measure twice, cut once"!

Super easy to use!

Admittedly, I wanted the G3 skins at first due to the tail clips, but these are great so far! Super sticky & easy to use. After seeing how others have made their own tail clips, I'm not at all concerned with not having them in the immediate.

I'm using skin savers & making sure to take good care of these puppies to ensure many fun-filled splitboarding adventures in my future!
