With this year's Carbon Surf Telemark Ski, Voile steps outside the (powder) box to deliver a tele ski that performs as well in the resort as it does in the backcountry. These lightweight skis feature a stout flex that cruises from the powder to the corduroy like a dream. Voile offers these skis with standard 4-hole stainless steel inserts for telemark bindings. The Carbon Surf Skis' super lightweight aspen wood core won't leave you exhausted after a long day on the skin track and will have you laughing through the powder. Don't let their twin-tip shape fool you; these telemark skis don't ride the pipe. Voile chose the twin-tip design for the clean release it provides in your turn, making these skis effective on everything from corn to hardpack to the deeps.

I rated this ski a 5 because it performs perfectly for its purpose: powder skiing in the backcountry of Colorado. It has great flotation, allows for diverse turning radiuses, and is so light that all of my backcountry ski pals are jealous. With that said, this is a powder ski. I don't ski much at the ski area, but would probably use this ski en piste if we have a major double-digits dump of fluffy.

They managed to make the carbon surf a even better all around ski this year. Last years was a bit soft and oriented toward the light Utah pow but this years they stiffened up and can even be used in Mt. Baker Northwest snow. Not ideal for that use but much better. Still room for improvement, but a great fun ski that turns very quick and light for a long tour.
