Description

Aggressive, like the ChupaCabra.

Stepping up the 29er hardtail game, Vassago levels rowdy trails with their new ultra-responsive, super-versatile, and long-legged ChupaCabra aluminum hardtail Frame. Thanks to its confidence-inspiring 100-120mm fork-compatible geometry, trail-dominating rider position, and plentiful stand-over clearance, the ChupaCabra looks to eliminate lame XC tippy-toe riding from your trail portfolio.

  • SwitchPlate dropout system features two(included) options: vertical standard geared plates and horizontal single-speed. A third set, which adjust the geometry for longer travel, are available from Vassago
  • Singlespeed SwtchPlate uses internal, forward facing axle tensioners for consistent chain tension
  • SwitchPlate system uses no moving parts for a secure, maintenance-free, and versatile frame design
  • Frame has clearance for a fat, trail-smoothing 2.55-inch rear tire
  • Vassago plants a tree for every frame sold

I picked up a Chup from you guys a few months ago and since have been searching for the long travel switch plates. Are you guys in possession of any of these or know where I'd be able to get some?

Thanks,
PK

Sizing question. I'm 5'11, so the chart suggest the 18 incher but most frames I have ridden lately have been 19 or so and felt right. Anybody else about my height feel like helping out?

I'm 6'1" and have ridden an "L" size Niner for years. But... it always felt a bit big to me. So, I bought an 18" Vassago a few months ago, and I think it fits me perfectly. I doubt you'll find it too small.

Hey there! What's the factory frame warranty period on the Vassago Chupacabra frame? The other Vassago frames have it listed as 2 years but I cannot find the warranty period for the Aluminum Chupacabra anywhere. Thanks!

You send to Brazil?
It's what I'm looking for a bike 29" to participate in Brazil Ride 2012 (http://www.brasilride.com), in which I am already registered..
Here in Brazil, because of high taxes, we pay dearly for a bike competition!
My partner has already acquired 29 "of it, a Stumpjumper, but purchased in the U.S..
This bike looks like a good choice...

Just recently finished building my Vassago ChupaCabra and absolutely love it. I'm new to riding and started off with a Bianchi Sok 29er and have been wanting a Vassago frame after hearing about them from friends and reading reviews. Everyone that I have met that owns a Vassago swears by them.

So far after hitting the trails in Warda, TX the ChupaCabra responds very well and fits me perfectly.

On my Chupa the rear skewer nuts hit the frame before axle seats at the top of the dropout - have tried several brands of skewer with no solution. Do the newer Mavic skewers allow the rear axle to seat? Getting crickets trying to get help from Vassago.

Vassago's website shows some pics with ISCG tabs on the bottom bracket of the ChupaCabra and some without. Your pics are all clearly without tabs. Can you confirm that there are no tabs? (I would really LIKE tabs for Hammerschmidt compatibility.)

Vassago is responding to emails again. They confirmed no ISCG tabs for 2011 because they didn't want additional delays. Said they'd reevaluate next year.

2 questions: Does the frame come with a seat clamp? The Vassago site says the Chupa comes with standard geared and SS switchplates. Your site kinda says that all switchplates are sold separately. Does the frame come with any switchplates?
