Awesome shoes, great brand
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
As a member of Gore MountainTechs, I have the opportunity to field test GORE-TEX gear in some of the harshest conditions. I absolutely love these shoes and have worn the heck out of them. They are super comfortable and fit my foot perfect. Lightweight, waterproof, and low profile. They have decent traction, nothing amazing, but still good. I wear them more for around town and short hikes, not backpacking or long hikes (and I actually do not wear them for jogging...they seem a little bulky for that IMO.) The abuse I've thrown at these shoes is crazy, and they've held up through it all! Very waterproof and breathable. I am sold on Vasque as my go-to brand, I just sometimes have a hard time finding the exact style I'm looking for. (I also bought Vasque M-Finity ice climbing boots and they're the best boot I've ever worn, bar none!) Can't go wrong with these shoes in my opinion.
So far, loving them
- Gender: Male

Just got these today. I Went out on a few mile walk and so far I'm loving them. I have BAD feet and I NEVER order shoes by mail. The few times I have, I generally send them back or change sizes or something. I am an 11.5 in some shoes and a 12 in some. I ordered the 12 and they are perfect.
The support is awesome, especially compared to the three year old North Face Hedgehogs I've been wearing. (Also a great shoe.) I have extremely high arches so the arch support isn't quite there, but I don't know that I've ever bought an off the shelf pair of shoes that had enough arch support.
The toe box is wide enough for my feet but I'm not swimming in them. It's 25 degrees here today and I'm wearing thin dress socks and my feet didn't freeze.
I obviously don't have the depth of experience with them that the other reviewers have, but on first blush I'm really happy.
I walk quite a bit and at 6'2 220 I tend to trash shoes quickly, so I'll follow up if they wear out quickly.
best pair I have ever owned
Maybe the bad review got an unlucky pair or I got a lucky pair, but these shoes are incredible. I bought my vasques over 5 years ago and they are still in beautiful shape. I have used these shoes for multiple backpacking trips (30-60 miles per trip), trail running, street running, mountain biking, and general camping recreation use. Seriously, I have put a beating on these shoes and the toe rubber is perfect, gortex toe box has been burned by the camp fire and still waterproof, never changed the insoles or used inserts and they are still good, i even have the original laces on them still. I am amazed that I still can use these shoes with confidence after 5 years. I have and still will highly recommend these shoes. Can't speak for vasque customer service though, because I have never had a complaint!
Seriously...you've got to be kidding
I purchased a pair of Vasque Velocity GTX hiking shoes in Harpers Ferry while hiking the Appalachian Trail. The shoes fit great and they came highly recommended so I was happy when I bought them. When I reached Delaware Water Gap 9 days later I was not happy. The toe kicks were peeling off, the soles were cracked and chunks were missing along the edges, the tread was worn smooth in several spots, the uppers were torn, basicly the shoes were trashed in 9 days...!! I called customer service to see about replacement, and was told that the Vasque Velocity Gtx Hiking Shoe was not rated for the Appalachian Trail...Glad to see a manufacturer standing behind their product..!!
I have a wide foot with a narrow heel How...
I have a wide foot with a narrow heel How does this shoe fit and does it come in wide widths?
This shoe has a wider toe box so that might transfer over to helping out with a wide foot. The fit of this shoe very comfortable but beware...read the review 'Seriously...you've got to be kidding'.
This shoe quickly became my favorite light hiker after a few 5-6 milers in the Wasatch. The fit is great, plenty of cushioning and the lacing pattern is longer than most trail run/hike hybrids, so you can cinch the toe box a little tighter if you end up scrambling on sections of some routes. The tpu plate and the density of the mid-sole make my descents feel like they have adequate support for a larger runner.
