warm boot, but roomy for sure

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs large
  • Height: 6'4"
    Weight: 210 lbs
    Size Purchased: 11

I picked these up as a warm winter hiker, and truth be told: they have certainly lived up to the expectation. however, this is really my first venture into a dedicated winter boot. I've had insulated hunting boots and muck work boots, but this was my first boot bought soley for winter hikes. now, I found the fit to be very roomy. I have narrow feet and my 3 season boots are Asolo's (very form fitting and snug). This worried me initially, but I've done (7) 4000' + peaks in these boots paired with MSR evo ascent snowshoes. The bindings on the snowshoes take up alot of the slack that the boot provides. These are great boots in every way, but I think I'd have problems if I wore them on long hikes without the aide of snowshoes to keep them snug. (the photo is of my hiking partner who also has these boots)

warm boot, but roomy for sure

good but not great.

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

These boots were a good for light snowing conditions. I walked through icy puddles with these and my feet were dry and warm as long as I kept walking my feet would stay warm but don't stop if temp. gets below 50deg. my feet got cold at these temps. Even with a heavy wool blend sock. After about 65deg. this boot did get too hot to walk in. They do well in sandy and snowy conditions for traction but not in mud as vasque claims they do. I had collected a few pounds of mud with these while walking through a field in Northern AZ. In fact every time I walked outside I would have to clean them up in the utility sink. This constant cleaning didn't go over very well with the mother n law during Thanksgiving. On the other hand sizing and overall comfort was great for my lager volume feet.

Dear johp... Your saying these only worked from between 50 to 65 degrees F? Then there really not "snow" boots then? Please explain further if you have the time as i just ordered these and wish to know what to expect. From the sizing as well. I ordered my usual size in a hiking boot, figuring they'd be warm enough with a regular wool sock. Was i wrong about the size too?

A warm, comfy boot!

These boots were just what I needed for a trip to SW Colorado coming up in October (elk hunt). The fact they were 40% off was huge bonus! So far, I've only used them on the frozen, snowy sidewalks of Denver during those late April storms we just had. Traction was great, and my feet were dry and warm. Considering their weight and the feel when walking in them, I have no doubt they'll perform in the mountains as well.
