    Great Boot

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 11

The best winter boots I've owned! I am so glad I ordered a pair. They are very warm, dry, and sturdy without being clunky, and have plenty of room for thick socks and my slightly wide feet. Good tread. Feels lightweight--kinda like a beefed up basketball shoe. I also like the height. They are a bit taller than many boots, which keeps out more snow. Very soft and comfy straight out of the box. No blisters, no weird rubbing. Just a really great boot for everything from snowshoeing to clearing the drive.

    Love these boots

I wait for the bus in the cold all the time and went through so many boots that kept my feet freezing. I found these on a review online about women who tested 15 boots over the course of 3 years, and these were the warmest they said, so I just had to see myself. I was hoping it wasn't another bad review because my feet were just tired of almost being frozen solid every winter. Well, It just snowed yesterday at 15 degrees with 8mph wind, so it felt colder, and I wore two pairs of socks, and I was outside waiting for 30-40 mins for the bus and my feet were warm the entire time !! The only thing that was cold was my hands because I didn't have gloves on. And today it was a little warmer about 27-28 degrees and I had on one pair of socks (same results; no cold feet). I was on campus walking all day, waiting for the bus, going to the store and finally home I gotta give it to these boots. Vasque pow pow really gave me justice !! Money well spent. I hope they last at least 3 more winters. P.S. I didn't get to experience in negative weather yet (ex. -7, -20 etc) hopefully they work just as good in that weather. I went to school last year when it was -18 (because they didn't even cancel) and froze, so I really hope they do justice in negative degrees.

    Gorgeous boots, nice and cozy

I love the look of these boots, beautiful construction from top to bottom and they even came with extra laces! The color was exactly as described and seen on Backcountry's website but even prettier in person. Excellent soles with good traction for hiking in snow and on slippery surfaces. Unfortunately, I am going to have to exchange them for another style that allows for a wider fit though the ball of the foot. The fit was true to size when it came to length and but when I tried them on (with a medium-thick Smartwool sock) the area in the ball of the foot was just too snug for me. I felt a little stuffed in that one area but everything else about the fit was comfy and cozy. Very comfortable insulation and arch support. I would highly recommend these boots to anyone with a "normal" foot and calf width.

I love these boots. I walk at least 9 miles a day and I'm comfy and warm. I needed a boot that was waterproof and comfortable. These boots are absolutely amazing. I'm not to warm when I'm walking and running. I have to walk outside in 2 feet of snow and these boots have no issues. I bought these boots for a Christmas present for myself and I'm very happy about my purchase. I recommend these boots to anyone that needs a waterproof boot and warm n comfy. Owner for about 1 week 😊

    Suspiciously cute

I read really good reviews for this boot and purchased it despite my better judgment. I'm shopping for a warm, winter boot for hiking, snowshoeing. I wore this around the house so these are initial impressions:
Very comfortable. Warm. True to size (with thick sock). Very cute, and that's were the problem is. Being a winter boot I expected more water proof/resistance. These might keep your feet warm, but they will not keep them dry.
I'll keep looking for a boot with more function and less form.

This is a great winter hiking boot--comfortable, warm, and hasn't slip on rocks with condensation and leaves at this point. They are the perfect height, as well--tall enough to wade creeks, but not too tall to be uncomfortable on longer hikes (in my opinion). I usually wear a 8.5, but order a 9 in boots. I ordered a 9 in this boot and it is roomy, but I will wear heavier socks on our winter hikes. I ordered the bungee cord color and received a grey-green boot. It doesn't look anything like the color in the picture. It's fine, but if you're the type of person who really cares about color, beware. It is not a brown shade.

    Pretty Impressed

I work for the Forest Service in Montana and its starting to get cold for the winter. I needed boots that would be waterproof and these do the trick. I've worn them 4-5 times for 8 hour shifts walking 6-7 miles a day in them. They are very comfortable and my feet don't get too hot. On really wet days and after crossing creeks and trekking through wet trees my socks have been a little wet but I didn't notice until I got back and took my boots off. They never felt wet or cold. Seem like they will last for a couple of seasons even with my tough working conditions.

    Best Boots for Winter!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought these as all-purpose winter boots - laced loosely, they're easy to slip on to take the dog out, but when laced up snugly they are secure enough for showshoeing or snowblowing the driveway. The little lip at the back is perfect for keeping snowshoe straps in place, as well as keeping my winter pants from dragging. The exterior is well treated to be water repellent - any melted snow beads up and rolls off, and the sole is sturdy and I've found it to be non-slip, even on ice. My only gripe might be the "shearling" interior, as it's gotten a little matted and looks worn - but is plenty soft and comfortable even when worn with bare feet.

Overall, after one winter, they still look nearly new. A great purchase that I'm sure will last many more winters!

I love these boots! Takes a bit a play with laces to put on and off - a few extra seconds or a minute that provide an awesome and secure fit for trudging through snow! Great for use w snowshoes, too .
They look pretty nice and i even wear them on streets not just on the trail!
I have a slightly narrow foot and high arches and it is always hard to find a good fit. These are perfect!
    Great find!

    fantastic winter boots!!

These boots are great....they keep your feet super warm & dry!!

I live in Boston and, well, if these boots can withstand this amount of snow & cold they are worth every penny!! Very comfortable fit, easy to get around in and great traction on ice. I would buy another pair without hesitation!

      Happy with this boot

Used for snowshoeing and everyday. Super comfortable. Don't need thick socks. Feet don't overheat in them. Snow stays out - even in the big drifts. Recommended. If you like thick socks- upsize the boot.

      Perfect in every way

I ordered and tried many boots based on a lot of research and was disappointed but I found this Vasque pair in my size at Backcountry and they are perfect. Not too clunky but warm; good tread; good looking enough to wear with a tunic and leggings; fit is good enough to wear with both lightweight and heavy weight socks. My last pair, Columbia Titanium Crushers, fit well and were warm but clunky. They finally fell apart after 10 years (not spontaneously- I suspect my German Shepherd puppy had a lot to do with it). The Vasque are the same warmth, same comfort but less clunky but I still can't go for a run in them. ;) I did order a size up which is normal for me for running shoes and boots. FYI: I have a borderline narrow foot. If you have a wide foot or high arch, you may find the Vasque too narrow.

I got these boots over a year ago and they're my go-to winter snow boot.

The fit is great - roomy enough for a good sock but the lacing makes the boot very flexible to also get the snug fit desired so your foot doesn't slip all over the place.

The 400g thinsulate insulation makes for warm feet and toes even when you're standing around in snow or on ice. It might be a little much for people with warm feet if you're doing high-exertion activities (like hiking in moderate winter temps - in which case go for a 100g or 200g boot) but for daily wear out in the snow you can't beat these. I have hiked in them on very cold days and they worked perfectly.

They come up nice and high which keeps the snow out (unless you're in a blizzard - then add some gaiters or snowpants with built-in gaiters).

I love their look because unlike a lot of other women's boots there isn't a big faux fur or fluffy top which might supposedly be fashionable but only sits around catching tons of snow and soaking your footies which "de-feets" the purpose of snow boots!

The UltraDry waterproofing is working well and even a year later no problems with leaking!

Bottoms have good traction and seem very durable.

      Great all around warm snowboot.

      BEST BOOTS EVER!

Finding these boots made me feel like Cinder-freakin-ella. I had tried on so many different kinds and couldn't find one that worked. The Sorels were too bulky and hard to move in. The North Face ones I tried were too tight no matter what size I tried. These are so comfortable, and the design around the ankle makes it easy to move and walk. They also have a wide toe box for extra comfort if you have flat feet, and give space for heat to circulate. I have been snowshoeing through the woods of winter in Wisconsin and my feet (which are VERY sensitive to the cold) were warm and toasty. I have the gray color and get lots of complements on them. They fit true to size, but I got a half size up so I could wear them with warm socks. A wonderful find!! HIGHLY recommend!

      Cute and warm!

I got these for my friend as a late b-day present, and she loves them. We live in Utah, and she's been using them out on field geology trips in the snow- and they do the trick! Warm, good traction, and not super heavy. Fit true to size

Is there a temperature range for these boots? I live in Winnipeg where we often hit -30 C. Are they meant for a climate this cold?

Does this boot come in a wide width? I usually need an 8.5 wide shoe or boot.

Are you going to get the jet black magnet back in stock in a size 9? I would prefer the jet black for work. I am a correctional officer and need a good black boot for winter.

I have a high arch and some shoes press on the tops of my feet after a long period.... do these have arch support and/or room around the mid-foot area?

Do they feel super snug at first? I got a 7.5, which is my usual size, but it felt really tough to get my foot in (even before trying with thick socks) & it feels tight across the top of my foot (over the balls of my feet). I do tend to have a slightly wide foot - the length seems good on these, so I'm hestitant to size up to 8. Wondering if I should go with something with a larger toe box?

From a legendary alpine climber & Vasque Rep: "The Woman's Pow Pow is 400 gram thinsulate, plus fleece lining and Ultra Dry W/P membrane- rate it to 20F below- that is subjective of course. It gets way colder in Fairbanks than that, but for a woman's town shoe which is what this is really, it's pretty warm- That said , not many places colder than the interior of Alaska other than the Poles."
