I brought these Vasque Matra Hiking shoes for my partner. We hike the steep hills of Haiti the previous shoes were specially designed for her feet. She struggle keeping up with us but now with the Vasque she is right in front with us. The shoe fit her perfectly without running the shoes in and suffering on the first trail. I am surprised on the fact that on shopping on the internet we had such success and it has to do with the brand and information on backcountry.

I have a long narrow foot so hiking shoes and boots are difficult to fit. I have a Vasque boot that works well (seems like the same boot as B width with just a different insole) so I tried these as a low top and they work well. The lacing style allows me to pull the sides in close to tighten the shoe over my thin instep. I also put in an extra insole for softness as I found the included one a bit hard for my tender bony feet. This doesn't work with all shoes but it does with these.

Got these shoes because have loved Vasque shoes in the past. But these were the worst I have ever had. There is no padding in the soles at all. Maybe this pair got skipped on the assembly line? Bought some heavy duty insoles to help them out. They do but now the shoes are so tight I have to suffer because they are so tight. I definitly dont recommend the shoes. Had no problem with Backcountry as they had super fast shipping.
Comfy right out of the box.

I really like my new Vasque shoes! My only complaint is that my size is borderline too small, so they become uncomfortable when I walk down really steep hills or run down any type of downgrade. They are not running shoes though, so I don't find it to be a huge issue.
When I first put my Mantras on, I was a bit concerned about the edge around my ankle. It comes up high at an odd angle. I was certain it would run and give me blisters. Much to my surprise, this did not happen. I have gone a few 2-3 hour hikes with them and I have been wearing them to work where I am on my feet often.
I got my shoes from Steep and Cheap for a decent discount and they were well worth it. I think if I could try them on and get a pair that fit my foot exactly, I would pay full price for them. So far, they seem like they will hold up for a really long time. :-)

Such a deal! REI was selling these shoes, on a Christmas sale for $89.00. Normal retail about $120.
I got them for less than half of that! They came almost overnight with regular shipping. The shoes are wonderful. I walk a lot of trails with an 85 pound boxer at the end of a leash. There's a lot of creeks and wet rocks. The vibram sole gives me the traction I need to stop my boxer from pulling me in when he sees a duck.
Great winter walk/errand shoe

I purchased these for winter walking in MN, and for traction in snowy and icy parking lots when running errands. These Vasque's have great support and stability in the heel and a wider toe bed. They are comfortable and the ties are sturdy. I ordered a half size larger than what I wear to allow for midweight-heavy sock; the half-size up is fine.

This is my second pair. I bought my first pair 2 years ago and it still works very well. When I saw the sale (which was less than half of what I paid for my first pair) I could not resist but to buy another pair. There is no break-in required for these shoes. Very comfortable from day one. Good for short hikes and travel.

I love these shoes. I don't get the shin splints I used to get while walking. They fit wide so they are very comfortable and they are very light in weight also I like the color of them. I don't feel like Jerry Seinfeld in white runners. The service was amazing I received these runners in record time delivered to my door I live in Canada. My next purchase will be from this site.
