Old school lace-up skate style for the geezer in you. That???s the Vans 106 Vulcanized completing its mission, and that???s pretty much all there is to say about this clean retro kick. Well, that and the fact that it???s canvas.

Ease of order, fast shipment. Vans Vulc

  • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Great price. Shoe is true to size. Son loves them so no complaints here.

Vans Vulcanized 106 Skate shoe. Black/Black.

Classy shoe

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This shoe has a little bit more toe room, as opposed to most other vans shoes, but not too much of a difference. The design is very minimalistic so it's great for all occasions, except for the boss' dinner party of course. Being a skater, naturally I tested the durability of it against my griptape and it held up really well, lasting about a month and a half. The sole is decently cushioned, so it's cool to take these off small-medium sized gaps, but big gap kids may want to go for something with more padding. The glue around the edges held together great and the rubber on the toe didn't wear out too bad. Overall, not a bad shoe. Not my first choice but still fairly good.

Sweet shoe

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I like the overall look and feel of this shoe. Super easy to slip on/off. Only downside is that the sole doesn't have too much support so you don't want to be standing on these all day.

I shop online sometimes but I almost never write reviews. DogFunk is great. I was not satisfied with my shoes from them and so I returned them - no questions asked, no hassle. The refund was so great it made me want to give them business so I'm buying a different pair through DogFunk.

    Okay shoe

This shoe was alright. low profile. Just not as much padding as ilike.

      good causal skate shoe

These shoes work well for me, but I would be worried if I was a hardcore skater. they offer little cushion and support. They are very grippy which I like.

Great for hangin, not so much for skatin

The Vans 106 is great for hangin, walkin, and leisuring. They're lightweight, comfy, and the canvas breathes great in the summer. But man when I skate these things, my feet take a beating. I think it's because of the mostly flat insoles or minimal padding but my insteps are super sore the next day. I guess my old man feet need a little more cush for the push. Also, the Vulc soles on these things is less grippy than I expected. I didn't feel connected to the board.

Sizing is normal Vans (sized large) - I wear a 10 in Emerica and Supras, 11 in running shoes and I wear a 10 in the Vans 106.

          My Favorite Shoes

These shoes are my go-to shoe for...everything. I have three pairs of these and I wear them everywhere. The blucher style of these shoes fits me better than the other Vans styles due to my wide wheels, but it also makes them a lot more comfortable.

Plus, I always get compliments from the ladies when I wear them.

i know this a similar question to the skating one but do they rip when ollieing and doing flip tricks , like my authentic 106's

Well, any shoes is going to rip when you skate in them, it's just a matter of how long it takes to rip them. And shoe that's canvas will rip significantly faster (which is a bummer because canvas feels the best). I'd stick with something suede to last a little longer.

Check out the Vans Chukka Low. Its a very similar shape, but beefed up a bit for skating.

            Do they skate?

You better believe it, these are way more durable than the classic slip ons (I know if your ride a skateboard you have tried skating in those) These shoes actually have a bit of padding under foot so a 8 foot drop isn't going to bruise your heel.

Great feature changing from a slip-on to a lace shoe. I still haven't kicked these over a fence trying to flick a tre flip up a step up yet. (hold strong laces!)

              Sweet shoes

These shoes are great except that I found that the soles are not very supportive or cushioning, a problem with most vans I have owned.

How much do these shoes weigh? comparable to the eras? Lighter?

                Best Answer

The Vans 106 vulcanized will weigh about the same as the Era depending on the materials used. They are both offered in Canvas or Suede. The canvas styles will weigh the same and the suedes will weigh the same. The suede is heavier though.
