Once the needle dips below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, it's just butt cold. Since you still want to ski, layering with the heavyweight Under Armour Base 4.0 Crew provides a good base for keeping the worst of winter at bay while you enjoy some fluffy turns on the mountain.

  • Heavyweight, four-way stretch polyester and elastane fabric maximizes body heat retention, breathes away moisture, and dries quickly if you take a hike in the afternoon
  • Flatlock seams, raglan construction, and ergonomically placed seams let you move naturally while skiing or boarding without chafing
  • Armour Block anti-odor technology in the fabric inhibits the growth of odor-causing microbes

Here's what others have to say...

  • Fit:True to size

This is an absolute must have for one of the warmest base layers. I wore it on a day that actually got fairly warm (low 50s) and was ridiculously hot in it. I get cold pretty easy though and have not found myself wanting a warmer base than this...

Nice and warm

A very nice base layer for the coldest conditions. Not as lightweight as a Patagonia Capilene 4, but will be much warmer. Runs small. I'm 6'3", 210lbs and I went with an XXL. (The XL fit but felt like it restricted my movement.)

    Perfect for cold weather camping

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I've been rockin' the Base 2.0 stuff for all my winter activities (snowboarding / skiing / shoeing) for the past few years. The 2.0 works wonders if you're getting your sweat on, but if you're just lounging around the campsite, you're gonna need something a bit more substantial. I skipped over the 3.0 and went right for the heavy weight stuff.

Paired with my Patagucci R1, I stay nice and toasty in this combo. Size wise I went with a Large (6 foot 1 @ 162lbs). I also wear a size large in their 2.0, but the 4.0 feels a bit more snug fitting.

The 4.0 stuff is always quite pricey, so catch it on a sale or when they are blowing out last years version.

    Under Armour 4.0 Amazing

This product will keep you warm in almost any conditions. Just don't wear it in the summer. The little thermal pockets trap in so much heat its unbelievable. The shirt fits snug and feels good. I would definitely recommend this product.

I was tired of wearing 4 layers when touring so I finally paid for a good base layer. By far the best investment in my clothing system. If you plan to hike or tour a lot, you will sweat a ton no matter how cold it is. I usually wear a wicking shirt over this to get the moisture away from my body. Also, Under Armour designed these to not be a real tight fit, it shouldn't fit like spandex. I usually wear a large but had to get an extra large for mine to properly fit my arms. I'm 6'1" and 150lbs. Seriously the best base layer you can buy.

    Great product

I use this almost every day to golf in the Cold PA winters, and just this and a heavy sweater makes the cold bearable. I used to have to layer up to 4 items, now 2 will do the job

    Worked well for me
